摘要:
A sewing machine which may employ a loop-making hook rotating about a vertical axis employs a one-way bobbin and bobbin case. A bobbin can have a larger flange and a smaller flange so as to fit in a suitably configured bobbin case in only one way. The bobbin may have a blind axial opening with a guide groove to fit a winder spindle in only one way so that the bobbin can only be wound in one way. Attempts at incorrect orientations cause the bobbin to protrude from the bobbin case in an obviously incorrect manner. Inadvertent efforts to wind the bobbin incorrectly are likely to be fruitless. Thus, a user can readily install the bobbin in the bobbin case with a proper orientation and with the thread correctly wound. Surprisingly, stitching problems, such as poor seams or the like, can be reduced.

A shuttle bobbin (1) for sewing machines is disclosed. In the shuttle bobbin, first (11) and second (12) disc-shaped end walls are concentrically and integrally formed at both ends of a hub, with the diameter of the first end wall (11) being larger than that of the second end wall (12). A partition wall (13) is concentrically and integrally formed at an intermediate portion of the hub, thus partitioning the hub into first and second winding parts (15a, 15b). The partition wall (13) is smoothly toothed (13a, 13b) at its outside edge, thus having rounded teeth and rounded roots at the outside edge. The diameter of the addendum circle of the toothed partition wall (13) is equal to the diameter of the first end wall (11) while the diameter of the deddendum circle is equal to the diameter of the second end wall (12). The second winding part (15b), defined by both the second end wall and the partition wall, is positioned just under the lowest position of a sewing needle when the bobbin is installed in a sewing machine. The thread carrying capacity of the above shuttle bobbin (1) is thus increased by the capacity, offered by the second winding part (15b), in comparison with a typical shuttle bobbin.

The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for detecting the ending-point of a bobbin thread for a sewing machine using a bar code, which is capable of alerting a sewing operator of his/her desiring bobbin thread remains when they are left enough to finish sewing under operation. The present invention of the apparatus for detecting the ending-point of a bobbin thread for a sewing machine using a bar code so as to sense the ending-point of a bobbin thread during a sewing operation, comprises a bobbin to wind a bobbin thread therearound and at least one bar code to indicate a position in the surface of a bobbin, of which the bar code is printed on one or both side(s).

The invention concerns a method of transmitting yarn-specific data during rewinding processes for producing two-thread lock stitch seams which are to be documented, said method comprising the following steps: the spool holding the thread, in particular the lower thread spool (10), is provided with a unique spool identifier; in a winding station (28), in which yarn for the lower thread is wound up from a yarn supply (30) onto the lower thread spool (10), the spool identifier is detected and stored in a data memory (24) together with a first data record identifying the yarn and the winding process; when the lower thread spool (10) has been inserted into a sewing machine (18), the spool identifier is detected and, by means of this spool identifier, the first data record stored therewith is determined and associated with a second data record concerning the sewing process and/or the material to be sewn, the resultant data volume then being stored.
