The invention relates to apparatus which absorbs G-force resulting from an explosion event near a vehicle in order to protect the occupant from potentially dangerous levels of G-force. The apparatus has first (12) and second mounting (14) attached to the occupant seat. An absorbtion mechanism (20) in the form of a mitigating strip (22) is provided between the mounting members and an anvil (28) is provided on such that when the vehicle, and hence the first mounting member, is subjected to the explosion induced G-force, the mitigating strip is bent and pulled over the anvil. This absorbs a portion of the G-force which would otherwise be imparted on the occupant hence minimising the risk of injury to the occupant. A method of protecting a vehicle occupant from explosion induced G-force is also provided.

Jetting conduit nozzles direct liquid radially from their jetting conduits into the trench after the trench is excavated by the jetting sword cutting nozzles. The jetting conduits direct sufficient liquid into the trench to maintain the mix of trenched soil and water in the trench along the length of the conduits at not more than a super-critical density, extending the distance in which the product being laid in the trench is able to descend in the trench and increasing the likelihood that the product will be buried at the intended trench depth.

Attachment means, such as a magnetic strip is provided to removably secure the male and female portions between the clamping arrangement (18) and a cutting bed (12). When the guillotine assembly is operated in a clamping movement, the male and female portions of the creasing accessory coact to crease the substrate along a crease line. A kit comprising several female portions of different dimensions is also provided to make creases of different dimensions as required by the particular application and substrate properties.

Floating ponds for the cultivation of algae are disclosed. The floating ponds consist of a buoyant framework, a liner, a culture, and a mooring system. Submersible floating ponds are disclosed with a buoyant framework built from tubes that may be filled or partially filled with, for example, air, or water, or the surrounding water, or the culture, and thereby the present invention provides a framework in which the buoyancy may be modulated. Use of submerging lines and spools are disclosed to control the orientation and depth of the floating pond during submersion.
