摘要: Important scientific areas such as cellular biology, medicine, pharmacy, environmental sciences are dependent on very sensitive analytical techniques to track and detect biomolecules. The present application discloses a simple, low cost and effective synthetic strategy to produce new red-shifted 4-styrylcoumarin derivatives of Formulas I, II, III and IV as promising inexpensive fluorescent labels for biomolecules. The extension of the delocalized π-electron system results in bathochromic shifts in these new coumarin derivatives, which also present large Stokes shifts. In addition, density functional theory and time dependent density functional theory calculations helped to rationalize photophysical properties observed by the experimental results.

摘要: The present invention relates to antibody molecules and peptide delivery systems for use in the treatment and management of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. In particular, the antibody molecules preferentially bind oligomeric forms of beta-amyloid peptide, in single domain format, and the peptide delivery systems facilitate specific transport of such antibody molecules, as well as other cargo molecules, across the blood-brain barrier. The invention also relates to constructs of the antibody molecules and the delivery peptides, as well as pharmaceutical compositions comprising effective amounts of the antibody molecules, delivery peptides, and/or their constructs, including humanized versions of the antibody molecules and constructs. The invention further relates to methods of making these products and pharmaceutical compositions thereof; and methods of using the pharmaceutical compositions in treating or preventing Alzheimer's and related disorders, such as those involving accumulation of beta-amyloid peptide or other peptides that aggregate in the brain; as well as to methods and kits for diagnosing these disorders.

摘要: The present patent application discloses a method for prognosis and characterization of sheep footrot based on the use of data produced using state-of-the-art sequencing techniques to characterize the composition of the microbiome associated with the foot rot in sheep. This characterization is done qualitatively, by identifying the species of bacteria present in the microbiome of each sample collected, but also quantitatively, as the abundance of each species, in each sample analyzed, is also determined. Subsequently, in situations where the observed score for the footrot is available for each animal, it is possible to identify the most important differences between animals not affected by footrot and those more affected by this disease.
