A method and system for managing power of a portable device is disclosed. The portable device has a plurality of device components that have controllable power settings. The device has a plurality of power profiles, each power profile referencing a list at least some of the available device components that are appropriately configured for their power needs. Sets of rules are defined having at least one criterion for selecting and executing ones of the plurality of power profiles. The criterion can be based on a device parameter from one or more device components. Once the rules and power profiles are created, the device parameters are monitored to determine if there is a match to one or more criteria for a rule. If the criteria in a rule are matched, the corresponding power profile is executed to manage battery life.

The determined velocity is used to adjust the edge detection algorithm used to detect the barcode features in order to decode the barcode. The orientation of the captured barcode can also be determined in order to determine the velocity in a direction perpendicular to the barcode features.

A top portion of the seal component is adapted for overlapping a portion of the top surface of the display and the base portion for overlapping at least a portion of the bottom surface of the display. The body has the exterior surface for positioning adjacent to the interior surfaces of the compartment and the interior surface of the channel for positioning adjacent to the top surface and the bottom surface and the plurality of side surfaces of the display.
