A neem seed extract containing azadirachtin with improved stability has been developed using a process involving dissolution of the crude neem seed extract in a polar solvent and removal of impurities by precipitation and/or treatment of the extract with an oxidizing agent. The resulting extract, optionally formulated as a wettable powder, is a useful insecticide for the control of foliar pests.

A novel insecticide and foliar fungicide derived from a neem seed extract comprising neem oil which is substantially free of azadirachtin and salannin, said neem oil being prepared by extracting dried, coarsely ground neem seeds with a non-polar, hydrophobic solvent to obtain a neem oil extract, and then removing the solvent to obtain the neem oil. These neem oil pesticides exhibit the ability to repel insects from plant surfaces, prevent fungal growth, and kill insect and fungal pests at various life stages.

Storage stable pesticide compositions comprising neem seed extracts which contain azadirachtin as the active pesticidal ingredient wherein the compositions are characterized by their non-degrading solvent systems. In a first embodiment, the pesticide compositions contain solvent systems characterized as having greater than 50% by volume aprotic solvents and less than 15% by volume water. In a second embodiment, the pesticide compositions contain solvent systems characterized as having greater than 50% by volume alcohol and less than 5% by volume water.

This plant protection method builds on a basic composition of zeolite (clinoptilolite) with silicon minerals and if it is necessary, where appropriate, the addition of sulfur or hydrated copper suflate and substances of plant origin. The addition of Azadirachta indica fruit powder enhances the pest repellent properties of this composition, while the addition of Salix alba bark powder enhances the natural defense of the plant. Clinoptilolite acts as biocatalyst and stabilizes the action of the plant substances and mineral additives. With the application of these compositions in agriculture, the following are achieved: a) innovative plant protection and enhancement of the plant defense mechanisms b) better quality of plant products c) plant protection from the effects of low winter temperatures d) stress reduction from physiological and other agents e) increase of storage resistance of plant products.

The present invention relates to phytosanitary compositions with fungicidal properties that comprise a mixture of essential oils obtained from plants and agents with known fungicidal properties, such as alkali metal or ammonium bicarbonates, and compounds based on copper or the salts thereof, for use, principally, in contact-protection against fungal infections in cultivated plants and post-harvest, and also in other antifungal applications. In said compositions, the effect of the agents that have known fungicidal properties is potentiated synergistically by the aforementioned essential oils. The present invention also relates to the use of said essential oils as potentiators for agents with known fungicidal properties.
