Abstract:
A method may include playing a first song on a device, capturing an image of a user, performing facial expression recognition of the user based on the image, and selecting a second song based on a facial expression of the user.
Abstract:
An apparatus for generating a collection profile (50) of a collection of different media data items (45) comprises a feature extractor (10) for extracting at least two different features (11) describing a content of a media data item for a plurality of media data items of the collection, and a profile creator (20) for creating the collection profile by combining the extracted features or weighted extracted features so that the collection profile (50) represents a quantitative fingerprint of a content of the media data collection. This collection profile or music DNA can be used for transmitting information, which is based on this collection profile, to the entity itself or to a remote entity.
Abstract:
A portable wireless communications subscriber audio and/or video player apparatus and system and method for selecting, requesting, downloading, and playing audio and/or video data content files from an Internet-based database server. The wireless link is preferably implemented in accordance with the WiFi protocol, which allows connectivity to the Internet by being in proximity with a local base station or WiFi hotspot (i.e., publicly available local wireless access hub connected to the Internet). The portable wireless communications subscriber audio and/or player apparatus and system preferably include a security means for monitoring and blocking unauthorized use of the player apparatus and system. The player apparatus further preferably has the capability to communicate with other neighboring player apparatus for the purpose of exchanging content data files, playlists and personal messages
Abstract:
A system comprising: a media playing device including a program participant's media library of items; a first server configured to recursively sub-divide a collection of server media items into server clusters of related media items; a second server configured to create one or more media item clusters for a particular program participant from items present in that program participant's media library based on the server clusters by performing a method comprising: determining a collection of media items that co-exist in both the program participant's media library and one or more lowest-level server cluster, and recursively agglomerating, into larger participant clusters by adding media items to the participant clusters that co-exist in both the program participant's media library and parent server clusters until each larger participant clusters comprises at least a determined minimum number of media items; and wherein the media playing device is configured to generate a mix of similar media items for playback based on a selection of media items represented in one of the participant clusters.
Abstract:
A music recommendation method and apparatus configured to provide personalised content, including music, to remote users, the apparatus comprising: a communication interface configured to receive user music list data from a remote user terminal and a user music list store arranged to hold said user music list data; an expert music list store arranged to hold a plurality of expert music list data with respect to which the user music list data is processed; and a recommendation module configured to generate a music recommendation output to a remote user terminal in dependence upon processing of the user music list data having regard to at least one expert music list data determined from said plurality of expert music list data.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a mobile audio player, comprising memory means adapted to store music data and non-music data, input means adapted to receive a user input with user preferences, radio program generating means adapted to generate, without a connection to an external entity, an individualized radio program from stored music data and non-music data depending on user preferences input via the input means, and audio output means adapted to output audio signals representing a generated radio program.

Abstract:
A method of classifying a set of content items, each content item including at least one signal (11) for rendering in perceptible form on a presentation system (1,2) of content items, includes obtaining an at least one-dimensional feature vector for each content item comprised in the set, at least one co-ordinate of the feature vector comprising a parameter value characterizing the content item. The method also includes providing at least one query to a system (14-17) configured to collect information descriptive of content items, each query including at least one of data identifying a content item of the set and data identifying an attribute common to the content items in the set, using results of each provided query to determine a sub-set of the set of content items, and classifying at least one content item in the set according to a measure of similarity between its feature vector and feature vectors obtained for content items in the sub-set.
Abstract:
When audio data is played back by, for example, a personal computer, contents are played back, a relationship with a playback process can be recognized even more easily than a conventional way. The displays showing the contents of play lists are arranged and displayed so that the contents become continuous in sequence in a playback sequence from the content which is currently being played back from a display of an operation element which causes an image of a playback process to appear or from a display showing the content which is currently being played back. When the playback of one piece of content of one play list from among a plurality of play lists is terminated, in a case where one piece of content of the other play list is played back, at least the content which is currently being played back and the content to be played back next are displayed so that the contents can be mutually distinguished from the other content.
Abstract:
A play list comprising the names of music pieces broadcasted from a broadcast station and broadcast time information are accumulated in a data base. If a user likes a music piece broadcasted from the broadcast station, he activates a book marker which stores time information representing the time at which the book marker is activated. The time information is supplied through a gateway device to a search engine which searches the data base for those broadcast stations in the user's geographic area which broadcasted music pieces or the like at a time that matches the time information. The search results are transmitted to the gateway device and displayed.
