    摘要: A shaped article, such as film or fiber, of an aromatic polyamide is provided. The shaped article is prepared by incorporating in an aromatic polyamide 0.5-30 wt. %, based on the aromatic polyamide, of a silicone compound such as a compound of the formula: X'Si(OR') 3 (wherein R' is alkyl and X' is an organic functional group), and then, treating the resulting polymer composition with heat, ultraviolet rays and/or electron beams. in addition to the silicone compound, a minor amount of a specified crosslinking compound may be incorporated in the aromatic polyamide. The shaped article exhibits improved heat resistance, electric characteristics and dimentional stability.

    摘要: The present application relates to enclosure members consisting essentially of solid, non-aromatic polymers that have a linear carbon to carbon backbone structure and having a plurality of free hydrogen atoms attached to the carbon atoms with a permeability to wet solvents and fuels of less than 1/50, optionally less than 1/200 of the permeability of untreated enclosure members having a thickness of 1 mm. Said low permeability is due to the presence of a coating on at least the inner surface of said enclosure members, having a portion of the hydrogen atoms replaced by sulphonic acid or sulphonate groups, consisting of a cured thin layer (of at least 2 µm) of condensation products of formaldehyde and melamine of formaldehyde and urea. Evidently the application relates also to a method of preparing said enclosure members.

    摘要: Plastic containers are treated to provide increased barrier properties to organics and gases such as oxygen by treating the interior surface of the container with SO 3 gas. The SO 3 gas is provided by inserting a solid pellet of poly-SO 3 into the container and evaporating the S0 3 such as with microwave energy. A solid neutralizing agent such as ammonium carbonate is then placed into the container and evaporated with microwave energy to form ammonia which neutralizes the sulfonic acid groups on the surface interior of the container.

    摘要: A method of preparing a composite of polyurethane bonded to the surface of a cured rubber substrate and the resulting composite. The method is comprised of first applying to a cleaned, cured rubber surface a coating of cyanuric acid followed by an additional coating of a phenol formaldehyde resin and then appying a liquid polyurethane reaction mixture which is cured to form the resultant composite. The invention is particularly directed to the preparation of a tire comprised of a polyurethane carcass applied to a cured rubber tread and to a tire comprised of a polyurethane tread applied to a cured rubber carcass.
