摘要: A lateral pipe adaptor 1 comprises a substantially tubular body 10, an internal support sleeve 30 and an external support collar 40. The body 10 comprises a socket 11 for receiving a lateral pipe and a tail 19 for insertion into a hole provided in a main pipe 2. The internal support sleeve 30 has substantially tubular body 31, a flange 32 and a lateral pipe shear support sleeve 39. The external support collar 40 has a substantially frustoconical body 41, increasing in diameter towards the inner end 45 of the frustoconical body 41. The inner end 45 of the frustoconical body 41 has a saddle like form. In some embodiments, one or more shims 50 are inserted between the inner end 45 of the collar 40 and the exterior of the main pipe 3. The shims 50 are each formed from an elastomeric material and have a ring form. As such, each shim 50 can deform to match the curvature of the exterior of the pipe 3 under pressure from the inner end 45 and/or an additional shim 50. The shims 50 are optionally formed with a V groove 51 on their outer end and a corresponding ridge 52 on their inner end. The groove 51 can help promote engagement with the inner end 45 of the collar 40. The ridge is adapted to engage with the groove 51 when multiple shims 50 are used without unduly impacting engagement between the inner most shim 50 and the pipe 3.
