A method for forming a launderable fluid containment textile structure composite (12) of stitch bonded construction such as is useful in an incontinence pad (10) or diaper (17) and a textile composite formed by such method. The textile composite (12) includes a fluid retention layer (20) of non-woven batting formed from a plurality of intermingled textile fibers. A plurality of bonding yarns (24) extend in a repeating stitch bonding pattern through the fluid retention layer (20) such that the bonding yarns (24) form a user contact surface over the fluid retention layer (20). The stitch bonding pattern is characterized by a relatively low stitch density. Enhanced bulkiness and dimensional stability against laundering induced shrinkage is imparted by introduction of mechanically induced compressive shrinkage.

The present invention relates to articles comprising a porous web that has been treated with a curable, shear thinnable, thixotropic material and with one or more modifiers. The modifiers are controllably and selectively positioned within the web leaving at least some of the porous web open. The modifiers are localized or concentrated at one or more selected positions within the web. A variety of modifiers, or combination of modifiers, can be used to alter the functional properties of the article. The invention also relates to methods for making the foregoing articles which include applying a curable, shear thinnable, thixotropic material to a porous web; applying one or more modifiers to the porous web; and subjecting the thixotropic material and modifiers to sufficient energy to cause the thioxotropic material and modifiers to flow into the porous web and selectively position the modifiers within the web, leaving at least some of the intersticial spaces of the web open.

Durable and reusable incontinent underpads comprise 4-layer fabrics, incorporating a first layer (10) of woven or knit fabric, a second layer (12) of non-woven felt, a third layer (14) of polyurethane film, and a fourth layer (16) of woven or knit fabric. The first and second layers are quilted together to form a fluid absorbing portion for the underpad. The third and fourth layers are laminated together with a urethane adhesive to form a leakage preventing portion for the pad. The second and third layers are also laminated together with the urethane adhesive.

This disclosure provides systems and methods for an adjustable reusable diaper. Some systems include a reusable diaper including a sealing apparatus configured keep fluid sealed within the diaper. The sealing apparatus may include one or more elastic members and one or more gussets where one elastic member is threaded through channels of the one or more gussets. Some systems include a reusable diaper and one or more soaker pads configured to be attachable to the reusable diaper. The soaker pads may be of varying sizes and shapes and can be selectively attached to the reusable diaper to effect different absorption volumes and patterns within the diaper. The soaker pads may be received in one or more pockets of the reusable diaper. Some systems include one or more openings to a pocket to allow a user to more efficiently attach and position one or more soaker pads in a reusable diaper.
