A textile sleeve for protecting elongate members with a high temperature abrasion resistant coating and methods of assembly, construction and curing thereof is provided. The textile sleeve includes a tubular textile wall formed of non-heatsettable yarn with interstices formed between adjacent filaments of the yarn. The wall has an outer surface and an inner surface providing an inner cavity for receipt of the elongate members. A fluoropolymer-based coating having about an 80 wt% fluoropolymer content is applied to the wall outer surface. The coating is substantially absorbed within the outer surface with the interstices being preserved. The coating is dried to an uncured state, and then subsequently cured at about 700 degrees Fahrenheit or greater. Upon being exposed and cured at a temperature of about 700 degrees Fahrenheit or more, the fluoropolymer-based coating melts and cross-links, thereby providing enhanced abrasion resistance protection to the wall.

The present invention provides a fabric and a fabric structure made of yarns with reduced water absorption. The fabric comprises yarns and interstices between the yarns, the interstices between the yarns having an average width of greater than 100μm. At least one of the yarns is comprised of multiple fibers. Said at least one yarn has voids between the fibers wherein the voids are filled up with a polymer material. The interstices remain open and the size of the interstices is the same as before the treatment. The filling of the voids between the fibers with the polymer material prevents the absorption of water into said voids and therefore leads to reduced water absorption of the fabric. The polymer material is substantially only located within the voids of the yarn and has embedded the fibers within the outer surface of said yarn.

The aim of the invention is to produce an aesthetically pleasing coating with a velvet or velour appearance for a support material, by applying a liquid plastic dispersion to the surface (3) of a die that consists of a hydrophobic plastic and by the subsequent solidification of said plastic material. To achieve this, the invention discloses a die, whose surface (3) has a degree of gloss, (measured according to DIN 67530), of less than 2.2 for an incident angle of 60° and is provided with microscopic cup-type depressions (4).
