Applicants have discovered that amine oxides enhance the uniform distribution and penetration of wood preservatives into wood substrates, minimize leaching of the wood preservatives, and improve the weatherability of the wood substrate. The present invention provides a method for enhancing the uniform distribution and penetration of at least one wood preservative into a wood substrate by applying a preservative composition to the wood substrate. The preservative composition comprises a wood distribution and penetration enhancing agent, which includes an amine oxide, and the wood preservatives. Another embodiment of the present invention is a method for enhancing the uniform distribution and penetration of one ore more wood preservatives by applying the wood preservatives to the wood substrate and then applying the aforementioned wood distribution and penetration enhancing agent to the wood substrate. Alternatively, the wood distribution and penetration enhancing agent may be applied prior to application of the wood preservatives or both may be applied concurrently. Yet another embodiment is a preservative composition comprising a wood distribution and penetration enhancing agent and at least one wood preservative. Preferably, the composition comprises a uniform distribution and penetration enhancing effective amount of the wood distribution and penetration enhancing agent and a wood preserving effective amount of the wood preservative.

A method of quality improvement of wooden articles, such as improved preservation of wood through impregnation thereof. The impregnation is carried out by immersing the wooden articles in a bath of hot linseed oil or similar vegetable oil heated to at least 110 °C, whereby the water present in the wood evaporates and diffuses through the wood and the oil while the hot oil simultaneously penetrates into the pores and cavities of the wood. The wooden articles are then taken out of the bath and the oil oozed in is made to cure and thereby to stiffen the wood. During the immersion of the wooden articles, the linseed oil bath has a temperature of up to 250 °C, preferably near 250 °C. An insecticide and/or fungicide has been added to the linseed oil. As a result, the finished wooden articles do not warp or display cracks or crevices and the wooden articles are resistant to insect or fungus attacks.

Bei einem Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Faserplatte, insbesondere einer gehärteten Holzfaserplatte wird flüssiges Härtmaterial vollflächig auf eine Oberseite (14) der Faserplatte (10) aufgebracht, wobei weniger als 500 ml an Härtmaterial pro m 2 aufgebracht werden. Durch Erzeugen einer Druckdifferenz zwischen der Oberseite (14) und der Unterseite (25) der Faserplatte (10) erfolgt ein Einsaugen und/oder Einpressen des Härtmaterials. Hierdurch ist es möglich zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt individualisierbare Faserplatten herzustellen, in die beispielsweise beliebige Konturen und Nuten eingebracht werden können, wobei die erforderliche Nachbearbeitung vereinfacht ist und daher ein wirtschaftliches Herstellen der Faserplatten möglich ist.

The invention relates to the field of woodworking and can be used for producing modified wood from various kinds simultaneously with its protective impregnation. The method of obtaining modified wood includes simultaneous drying, impregnation by means of immersion of the semi-finished product into the impregnating compound and its exposure to an acoustic field. The immersion of the semi-finished product into the impregnating compound, and its subsequent removal and at least partial cooling shall be carried out in inert gas, whose molecular weight is greater than the molecular weight of oxygen. Prior to filling the area above the surface of the impregnating compound with inert gas, it shall be evacuated and the impregnating compound shall be heated up to a temperature of 140-230° C before the immersion of the semi-finished product. The device for obtaining modified wood includes an impregnation and drying chamber (1) equipped with a lid, (2) filled with the impregnating compound, (3) in which the semi-finished product (4) is placed, to which acoustic energy source is connected (5). The impregnation and drying chamber is equipped with a heater (6) that ensures heating of the impregnating compound up to a temperature of 140-230° C. The lid (2) of the impregnation and drying chamber has a leak-proof design and equipped with at least one connecting pipe, (7) connected with evacuation system, as well as with inert gas filling system. The technical result of the invention is that the invention ensures obtaining of high quality characteristics of the modified wood.
