Energy systems, specifically renewable energy generation systems, are used as examples. The aggregated data serve as the basis for a variety of services that facilitate the adoption and deployment of these systems. Services are provided that aid in enhancing energy educational activities. The services represent the quantity of energy generation as energy demands that the students may appreciate. Furthermore, the services are interactive and may allow the students to change System Parameters so that they more fully understand the influence of these parameters on the energy generation efficiency.

Methods and systems for evaluation of business performance are provided. All actionable activities (2) of a business are divided into a plurality of business aspects (4, 5, 6). A plurality of aggregate measures (10, 11, 12) is then established for each business aspect. Each of the aggregate measures comprises a set of related actionable activities for a respective business aspect. A plurality of prime measures (12-23) is established for each aggregate measure. Each of the prime measures quantifies one or more actionable activities from the set of related actionable activities. A value of at least one of the prime measures may be calculated to provide an indication of business performance. In addition, the value of each aggregate measure may be calculated by multiplying the values of each of the prime measures for that aggregate measure together to provide an indication of business performance. Multiplying the values of the aggregate measures together provides an indication of overall business performance.

A method of monitoring the performance of a business by calculating actual output values and budgeted output values for measured input values at a unit, component or sub-component level. The budgeted output values are determined from key performance indicators using suitable models for the specific activity. Values are converted to a common unit system, for example dollars.A deviation between the actual output value and the budgeted output value is calculated, stored and summed at each level. The total deviation across the business is compared to a threshold. If the total deviation is unacceptable the stored data is mined to identify the source of the variation.

A method (Fig. 1) for scheduling personnel (e.g., agents) in a work environment based on personnel 'skill' levels. The method facilitates true skills-based scheduling of agents in a telephone call center using a simulation tool (38) to predict what fraction of scheduled agents from each 'skill group' will be available to each 'call type' during each time interval being scheduled (Fig. 2). A feedback mechanism is used to adjust net staffing (30) and skills usage data (32) between iterations of a call handling simulation until a given schedule being tested through the simulator (38) meets some acceptance criteria.

The system enables business people to understand the impact of business transactions, changes and events in real-time using advanced rules and analytics to filter, categorize and interpret the significance of streams of real-time information. Most business performance analysis today is done manually and this process is a time consuming and skilled task leading to a time delay in producing the analysis. This time lag between the transaction or event happening and being able to take action on the analysis is measured in weeks or months at many companies. By blending real-time information with historical data and performance goals, this system enables business users to assess business events and collaborate within teams to drive optimal business performance. Using forecasting techniques enables business managers to predict the likelihood of achieving a particular goal without relying on manual analysis by a skilled analyst. The system automatically updates the forecast based on real-time changing data, enabling the business manager to have an up to the minute and statistically valid projection of future business performance.

The invention proposes a method for configuring a network, wherein the network comprises a plurality of network sections, the method comprising the steps of accessing (S2) data from network sections; forming (S3) groups of network sections using a clustering method by using at least part of the accessed data as input data; and processing (S4) parameter on network section group level. By this method, the operation load during optimising a network consisting of a large number of cells can be greatly reduced. The invention also proposes a corresponding network optimising system.
