This invention relates to a system and method of monitoring, by establishing end to end loopback testing across one or more networks with dissimilar transport technologies. The system allows for connection in loopback mode from a standard interface on a test device to a media adaptor located on an IP-based access network, such as a standard multimedia terminal adapter ('MTA'). End-to-End Quality of service delivered over the transmit and receive path can thus be monitored. Loopback tests are initiated from designated endpoints on the network and made operational by attaching a tag to a telephone number, to allow the gateway to signal connection mode to a call agent. The system and method overcome certain inherent limitations of the MGCP/NCS architecture.

A method and computer program product for testing using asynchronous automated virtual agent behavior is presented. A communication including one of a web-based communication and a telephony-based communication is received at a contact center. The communication is responded to by a virtual agent simulating actions of an agent in a coordinated, asynchronous manner. The virtual agent is capable of providing a response to the web-based communication and to the telephony-based communication. At least one parameter of said contact center is measured and the results are presented to a contact center manager.

The aim of the invention is to test the functionality of a switching center (VST) of a telecommunications network to be tested, in which the exchange of useful information of the transport connections to a respectively connected switching center is carried out via intermediate interfaces (NK1, NK2), and in which the exchange of signaling messages for controlling the transport connections and for managing the intermediate interfaces (NK1, NK2) is carried out via signaling interfaces (SSS). To this end, originating signaling messages in which the switching center (VST) is specified as the originating center are received. Said signaling messages are transmitted by the switching station (VST). The originating signaling messages are respectively converted according to a predetermined instruction into signaling messages, in which the switching center (VST) is specified as the destination point, and the signaling messages which are converted in such a manner are transmitted to the switching center (VST). The intermediate interfaces (NK1, NK2) are advantageously looped through in accordance with the switching centers assigned to one another in the converted messages. The functions for testing can be internally carried out in a switching center (VST) or in a device (CLG) for testing the functionality of the switching center.

A local exchange emulator for transmitting and receiving telephone line data comprises a plurality of serial data sequencers and global serial communication means, the plurality of serial data sequencers each being interfaced with the global serial communication means. Each serial data sequencer has a time division multiplexed I/O port for interfacing with a plurality of subscribers in use and digital signal processing means for taking measurements associated with data processed by the emulator. The digital signal processing means has first and second serial I/O lines, the first serial I/O line being connected to the I/O port for direct data transfer therewith, and the second serial I/O line being connected to the global serial communication means, the first serial I/O lines each being time division multiplexed to the same order as the I/O port. In that way, the emulator is operative on all of the time slots defined on the I/O port. That allows full real time operation of the emulator in a manner similar to that of a local exchange. The global serial communication means is time division multiplexed into a plurality of time slots. The time division multiplexing may be consistent throughout the emulator, allowing simplification of data handling.

Solange sich Funktionsinformationen und Testinformationen nicht verändern ist die Testdurchführung unabhängig von Signalen, die zwischen den Telekommunikationsendgeräten und der Telekommunikationsanlage ausgetauscht werden.
