摘要: The present invention is to obtain a glass bulb of reduced weight, and high safeness and reliability by ion exchanging which assures a compressive stress layer having an effective thickness even to a large tensile vacuum stress. For this purpose, a region in an outer surface of a body portion 4 of the glass funnel, the region having a small mechanical strength and producing the maximum tensile vacuum stress thereby causing breakage easily, is partly strengthened by ion exchanging method according to an electric field assisting method and an ion exchanging method using paste in combination, whereby a portion 9 strengthened by ion exchanging method is provided in that region wherein the concentration of doped ions in a strengthened compressive stress layer is distributed according to a substantially step function in a direction from the surface of the glass toward the inside of it.

摘要: Picture tube cones (4) are usually produced by pressing a molten glass post in a mould (1) using a plunger (2) and using a ring (3) to form a flat upper cone edge (4a), said ring being elastically attached to the plunger (2) and lying on the mould (1). At the same time, so called pads (4c) are formed on the outer collar of the cone (4) through corresponding recesses (1a) in the mould (1), so that the cone (4) can be adjusted for connection to the screen. The mould (1) is provided with recesses (1a) in the area of the pads (4c) in order to obtain a peripheral upper edge (4a) which retains a constant width through the pads being brought back, without a peripheral mould joint on the finished cone. Moving, flat mould parts (5, 6) which finish flush with the upper edge of the mould (1b) can be introduced into said recesses (1a), the thickness of said mould parts being determined according to the measure by which the pads are brought back and their radial longitudinal extension being such that they protrude into the mould space in accordance with the brought back upper edge (4d) of the pads (4c) to be moulded on. The mould parts are positioned in such a way that they can be moved away from the mould space after the cone (4) has been released from the mould.

摘要: A method of manufacturing an electron gun (6) having a sub-assembly (42) to interconnect the beaded unit (33) and the base (28) of the electron gun. This sub-assembly is manufactured by making a pattern of apertures (41) in a planar element (40), thereby forming a number of securing means (42). In the next step of the manufacturing process, portions of the securing means (42) are bent out of the plane of the planar element (40) and then connected to an insulating plate (55), thus forming the sub-assembly (54) of securing means (42) and insulating plate (55). This sub-assembly (42) is preferably provided with funnel-shaped apertures (57) to lead the electric leads of a number of the electrodes (20-24) of the electron gun (6) through the insulating plate (55). This allows an accurate and easy interconnection of leads and pins (29) of the base (28).

摘要: An envelope (7) of a cathode ray tube includes a substantially rectangular flat face plate (1), and a substantially rectangular flat rear plate (3) opposed to the face plate with a side wall (2) being interposed therebetween, a plurality of funnels (4) extending from the rear plate. A plurality of necks (5) extend from the respective funnels, and a plurality of electron guns (12) are respectively arranged in the necks. A plurality of plate support portions (16) are arranged between the rear plate and the face plate, so as to support the rear plate and the face plate against an atmospheric pressure. Each plate support portion includes a support body (17a) made of glass which is integrally welded with the rear plate and extends from the rear plate toward the face plate, and a distal end portion (17b) jointed to the extending end of the support body and being in contact with the face plate.

摘要: @ A method of manufacturing a CRT comprising the step of adjusting of the location and/or the angle orientation of the gun with respect to the axis of the envelope.
The adjustment is carried out by means of a structure (15) connected to the gun assembly (32), which consists of magnetically half hard material and is magnetized as a multipole, and a device having magnetic field-sensitive sensors (20, 21, 22, 23) provided around the envelope (1) at the level of the structure (15), the desired location and orientation of the gun assembly being adjusted by rotating and translating (x, y) the gun assembly and observing the field observed by the sensors (20, 21, 22, 23), after which the gun assembly is connected in the envelope, and after which the structure is preferably demagnetized. As a result of this a very accurate adjustment in the tube is obtained.

摘要: Upon adhering the display screen to the cone and upon evacuating the display tube, the display screen and the cone are subjected to temperature treatments in which stresses occur in the display screen which may cause fracture of the display tube. In order to reduce the possibility of fracture, during the temperature treatment measures are taken which influence the temperature distribution over the display screen and the cone in such manner that the occurrence of stresses in the display screen is counteracted. In an embodiment, in the furnace 60 for ahdering the display screen 41 to the cone 42, a heat shield 46 is provided at some distance above the central part of the display screen 41. As a result of the heat shield 46, fewer tubulences of the heated air occur at the central part of the display screen 41, with which the display tube 40 is warmed up and which is conveyed from the neck 43 past the display tube 40. The display screen 41 thus is warmed up more slowly, which considerably reduces the value of the stresses occurring in the display screen 41.
