摘要:
Picture tube cones (4) are usually produced by pressing a molten glass post in a mould (1) using a plunger (2) and using a ring (3) to form a flat upper cone edge (4a), said ring being elastically attached to the plunger (2) and lying on the mould (1). At the same time, so called pads (4c) are formed on the outer collar of the cone (4) through corresponding recesses (1a) in the mould (1), so that the cone (4) can be adjusted for connection to the screen. The mould (1) is provided with recesses (1a) in the area of the pads (4c) in order to obtain a peripheral upper edge (4a) which retains a constant width through the pads being brought back, without a peripheral mould joint on the finished cone. Moving, flat mould parts (5, 6) which finish flush with the upper edge of the mould (1b) can be introduced into said recesses (1a), the thickness of said mould parts being determined according to the measure by which the pads are brought back and their radial longitudinal extension being such that they protrude into the mould space in accordance with the brought back upper edge (4d) of the pads (4c) to be moulded on. The mould parts are positioned in such a way that they can be moved away from the mould space after the cone (4) has been released from the mould.
