    摘要: A CCD (12) or other photoelectronic device is bonded to an image tube housing (26) to provide a digital output from the image tube (19). The housing (26) and cathode (19) are degassed in chambers (44 and 42) at a high temperature and low pressure. A load lock chamber (46) is degassed and evacuated to remove contaminants. After cooling the chambers (42, 44 and 46) the CCD (12) is placed in the load lock chamber (46) which is then sealed and evacuated. After evacuation, a gate valve (54) is opened between the load lock chamber and the housing chamber (44) and the CCD is placed on a press station (63) of a metal bellow (64). The metal bellow (64) is extended to push the CCD (12) against an indium seal ring (36) on the housing (26), creating a seal between the CCD (12) and the housing (26).

    摘要: A method of making an electron permeable window is provided which entails depositing a thin film (31) of an inert, high strength material or compound having a low atomic number onto a substrate (33) by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Following that deposition, a window pattern and window support perimeter are photolitho-graphically defined and the substrate is etched to leave the desired window assembly (35). For a particular class of materials including SiC, BN, B 4 C, Si 3 N 4 , and A1 4 C 3 , films are provided which are exceedingly tough and pinhole free, and which exhibit nearly zero internal stress. Furthermore, due to their extreme strength, these materials allow fabrication of extremely thin windows. In addition, because of their low atomic number and density, they have excellent electron penetration characteristics at low beam voltages (15 to 30kV), so that most conventional CRT deflection schemes can be used to direct the beam. Also, such films are remarkably resilient and chemically inert even when very thin and can easily withstand large pressure differences.

    摘要: A composition and method of forming an enhanced internal neutral density filter on a luminescent screen assembly of a cathode ray tube (CRT) is disclosed. The luminescent screen assembly is formed on an interior surface of a glass faceplate panel of the CRT tube. The luminescent screen assembly includes a patterned light-absorbing matrix that defines three sets of fields corresponding to one of a blue region, a green region and a red region. An enhanced internal neutral density filter is formed on the light-absorbing matrix. An array of blue, green and red color phosphors is formed on the internal neutral density filter corresponding to one of the blue region, the green region and the red region defined in the light-absorbing matrix. The enhanced internal neutral density filter has a composition including a red pigment, a blue pigment, one or more surface active agents and at least one non-pigmented oxide particle. The enhanced internal neutral density filter preferably has the surface active agent in the amount of about 0.7 to 1.2 weight % based upon the total mass in the filter.
