    摘要: An inspection equipment to detect twist of a wire rope with high precision by taking influences of change in the rope pitch due to the relative movement between the rope and the inspection equipment and tension of the rope into consideration, a magnetization device (2) magnetizes a wire rope (1) in a longitudinal direction thereof, the wire rope being produced by twisting steel wire bundles; magnetic detectors (8a-8h) disposed near the wire rope detect magnetic flux leakage from the wire rope, an arithmetic unit calculates (9,10,11) a rope pitch using a relative velocity between the wire rope and the inspection equipment from an encoder (7) and the magnetic flux leakage and corrects (12) elongation of the rope due to the tension measured by a tension measurement unit (6,13) based on the calculated pitch to thereby calculate (14,15) twist of the rope, and supplies results of the calculation to determine acceptability or inacceptability of the rope (16,17).

Instead of directly measuring the residual field strength on the face, the curve of at least one magnetic field component is measured on the outer surface of the tube at least in the region of the tube ends and beyond the tube ends and the residual field strength on the face is inferred on the basis of the previously determined correlations between the residual field strength measured on the face and on the tube surface.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method for the nondestructive testing of pipes made of ferromagnetic steel for flaws by means of leakage flux, wherein the pipe is magnetized by a constant field and the flaws present in the near-surface region of the outer or inner surface of the pipe cause magnetic leakage flux, which exits the pipe surface and is detected by probes of a test unit each for longitudinal and/or transversal flaw testing, wherein the association of the detected amplitude signals is performed on the basis of the amplitude height and/or the frequency spectrum with respect to an outer or inner flaw by external or internal flaw thresholds. To this end, prior to associating the detected amplitude signals with an external or internal flaw, the angular position of the flaw relative to the respective magnetic field direction is determined, and a correction of the signals is carried out by way of a previously determined corrective factor for amplitudes and/or frequencies.

    摘要: A flexible array probe is disclosed suitable for use in the non-destructive testing and inspection of test pieces with varying cross-sectional geometries. Array elements (103) such as, but not limited to, eddy current sensors, piezoelectric sensor elements, and magnetic flux leakage sensors--are mounted on thin alignment fins (101) and coupled together with pairs of pivot mechanisms along the axis of desired rotation. The pivot mechanisms allow rotation in exactly one dimension and force the flexible array probe to align its elements orthogonally to the surface of the structure under test. Alignment and coupling fixtures arc also disclosed.

    摘要: For detecting flaws in the threaded end (26) of a ferromagnetic pipe (21), a magnetic force is applied to produce a field generally axially through the threaded pipe end, first and second means (55, 56) adjacent successive crests (28, 29) of a thread sense generally radial magnetic field and generate a first and second signal (51, 52) corresponding to the sensed magnetic fields, and means (42) differentially connect the signals generated by said first and second sensing means. In this way, a differential output signal is produced in response to a flaw between the crests of the thread being inspected. Means (60) can also be provided for helically rotating the sensing means (55, 56) to follow a path corresponding to the threads of the pipe, whereby the first and second signals vary with time.
