摘要:
An isolation container includes an isolation space for receiving an object and maintains the isolation space substantially isolated while providing for continuous access to, and maneuverability within, the isolation space through one or more access ports. An air management system re-circulates air through the isolation space to create a negative or positive pressure within the space, and is operable to filter, and optionally adjust the temperature and humidity of, the re-circulating air. In an embodiment of the isolation container configured for transporting a patient in the isolation space, a communications system is also coupled to the isolation space to provide for audio, video or other data communications between the patient and a communications device external to the isolation container.

A device combining internal nasal filtration and internal nasal dilation operating synchronously provides air filtration by retaining particulate in a single piece foam nasal filter during inhalation through the nose. Internal nasal dilation is provided by the effect of a resilient member (20) adhesively affixed to the nasal foam filter elements (12) and which when bent from a planar surface applies outward biasing forces to each nostril so that breathing is facilitated. The soft, gentle foam of the nasal filter distributes the biasing forces over a large area and protects the inside of the nose from irritation. An improved internal nasal dilator filter functions to provide increased air flow through dilation while removing various sizes of particulate through filtration.

A headwall (10) for use in a healthcare facility maternity area is provided. The headwall comprises patient care equipment (40) and a post-delivery bed (18) disposed in the headwall (10) to have an upwardly extending storage position and an outwardly extending use position. The headwall (10) may provide a docking station (14) for a birthing bed (16) on which the delivering mother will be positioned during delivery.

An air filter unit includes an air filter made up of two layers of submicron filter media (32, 34) such as HEPA or ULPA filter media, with a layer of electrostatic filter media (33) sandwiched therebetween. Preferably, a layer of electrostatic filter media (31) is also provided on the upstream side of the submicron filter media (32). A personal delivery system for filtered air includes air delivery tubes (66) supported in relation to a user's face to position end air supply openings (67) adjacent opposite sides of the user's nose and mouth. Filtered air from the air supply tubes create a curtain or area of filtered air around the user's nose and mouth so the user breathes filtered rather than ambient air. An area delivery system includes a canopy (87) over the area with filtered air supplied to the inside of the canopy.

The present invention is an aerosol inhalation interface, and a method for its use. The device delivers a flow of aerosol medication to a patient breathing tidally by creating a medication rich environment proximal to the nose and mouth of the patient, while the patient is in a reclining position. The device, which is suspended above the patient's nose and mouth, is comprised of an aerosol generator, which generates medicated particles; a containment region, into which the generator discharges the medicated particles; a downwardly projecting outlet sleeve, which is connected to the containment region and channels the particles from the containment region to create a medication rich environment proximal to the nose and mouth of the patient; and an air movement deflector, which inhibits the dispersion of the particles and disturbance of the medication rich environment.

A wearable storage system (10) for pressurized fluid includes a pressure vessel (40) formed from a plurality of polymeric hollow chambers (50) having either an ellipsoidal or spherical shape and interconnected by a plurality of relatively narrow conduit sections (52, 56) disposed between consecutive ones of the chambers. The pressure vessel includes a reinforcing filament (46) wrapped around the interconnected chambers and interconnecting conduit sections to limit radial expansion of the chambers and conduit sections when filled with a fluid under pressure. The container system further includes a fluid transfer control system (76) attached to the pressure vessel for controlling fluid flow into and out of the pressure vessel. A gas delivery mechanism for delivering gas stored in the pressure vessel to the patient in a controlled manner is connected to the fluid transfer control system. The pressure vessel and the fluid transfer control system are incorporated into a wearable garment to provide an ambulatory supply of gas for the patient.

An apparatus is provided to permit upgrading of a hospital room from a general care room to a critical care room and to facilitate transport of a critical care patient on a hospital bed (25). The apparatus includes a headwall (10) mounted to a wall (12) of the hospital room. The headwall (10) includes electrical outlets (18), gas supply outlets (20), and a bed locator section (16). The apparatus also includes a care cart (24) including a base (26) having a plurality of casters (28), an equipment shelf (38) coupled to the base (26), critical care equipment (40) located on the equipment shelf (38), a medical gas manifold (140) coupled to the equipment (40), a gas supply line (44, 46) for coupling the medical gas manifold (140) to a medical gas outlet (20) of the headwall (10) when the care cart (24) is in the hospital room, and a mechanism for coupling the manifold to a transportable gas supply (54) mounted on the care cart (24) during transport.
