A process for treating waste water containing cutting oil is disclosed, which includes the steps of adding a cationic organic compound to waste water containing used cutting oil to coagulate water-insoluble matter in the water and to thereby form coagulated particles, adding an anionic organic polymer to cause those particles to grow into flocculated flocs, and separating the flocculated flocs. The process of the invention can treat waste water containing used cutting oil in an industrially beneficial way without producing a large amount of sludge.

A dephosphorization material disposed so that a material containing iron as a main component and a calcium compound material contact a phosphorus-containing aqueous solution, and provided with a water-permeable material around the material containing iron as a main component. A phosphorus component of sewage and river water can be removed easily by simply bringing this dephosphorization material into contact with such phosphorus-containing aqueous solutions, without employing any special solution control method. This dephosphorization material is capable of reducing the outflow of iron rust occurring due to the oxidation of iron during a dephosphorization of a phosphorus-containing aqueous solution, and the iron effluent can be eliminated by the action of the calcium compound material. Accordingly, this dephosphorization material can be applied pratically to sewage and river water.

The solids are contacted with a hydroxamated polymer. The amount of hydroxamated polymer is sufficient to increase the settling rate of the solids and to decrease the turbidity of the solids.

Die Erfindung betrifft Verfahren zur Herstellung niedrigviskoser, wasserlöslicher Polymerdispersionen auf wäßriger Basis mit hohen Wirkstoffkonzentrationen enthaltend ein Polymerisat A), aufgebaut aus wasserlöslichen Monomeren a1) und gegebenenfalls amphiphilen Monomeren a2), sowie ein polymeres Dispergiermittel D). Eine Verfahrensvariante besteht darin, daß während der Herstellung des Polymerisats A) in Gegenwart des polymeren Dispergiermittels D) Wasser abgezogen wird, was zur Polymerdispersion PD') führt. Eine andere Verfahrensvariante umfaßt die Zugabe des polymeren Dispergiermittels D) in wäßriger Lösung zu der Polymerdispersion PD') in einer zweiten Verfahrensstufe, was zur Polymerdispersion PD'') führt.
