摘要： Apparatus and methods for the determination of moisture content of a sample carried on a conveyor belt. Microwave signals at a number of discrete frequencies within a range are transmitted through the sample and the phase shift of the received signals is averaged and combined with measurement of attenuation or mass per unit area to provide a measure of moisture content of the sample. The invention is applicable to measurement of moisture content of crushed coking and steaming coals.

摘要： The present invention discloses both methods and apparatus for carrying out proton magnetic resonance thermal analysis (PMRTA) measurements in which the non-equilibrium transient NMR response is measured with acceptable time resolution whilst the sample is subjected to a specified temperature regime. The technique is applicable to many materials including coal and polymers. The automation of a known manually operable limited temperature range NMR spectrometer to provide a PMRTA having a high temperature capability is disclosed. A probe (105) suitable for holding the sample and having an RF coil (109) and heater (107) is also disclosed.

摘要： Production of an electrosuspension of particles (5), comprising an insulating container (3) fitted with two spaced apart electrodes (2, 4) between which a high electrical potential is applied. At least one of the electrodes (2) is mounted for rotation by an associated electric motor (20). The electrode mounted for rotation preferably has a drum like configuration formed by a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart conductors (6). In a second aspect the invention produces an electrosuspension of micronised particles where one of the electrodes is in contact with a bed of particles and a second electrode is spaced above the particles. Field concentrating conductors are connected with the second electrode to generate ions and irradiate the surface of the particulate material with ions of opposite polarity to the first electrode.

摘要： A tube fitting particularly adapted to inert polymeric tubing, has a polymeric plug (11) with a tapered seat (15) and a relief portion (14) in a bore (16), the plug (11) being received in a case (29) having a threaded port (28) adjacent the plug bore (16). A ferrule (17) and a threaded nut (25) seal the polymeric tube to the plug (11). The ferrule may be extended through the nut bore and be retained in the nut by a flange (32, fig. 2) at the outer end of the nut. The fitting may include further gripping means (64, 71, figures 6, 7) to resist axial pulling of the polymeric tube.

A preferred method of separating the fruit juice into high and low sugar fractions is by fractional crystallization. A low alcohol wine produced by the method is also claimed.
