The invention relates to a security product or valuable product (100), comprising a passive, electroluminescent security element (10), which comprises a field-induced electroluminescent component (20) (EL component). The EL component (20) contains an electroluminescent composite layer (30), which is arranged between two electrodes (22, 24) and which has at least one electroluminescent dye embedded in a transparent dielectric material. The composite layer (30) consists of only a single layer, which is directly adjacent to the electrodes (22, 24). The invention further relates to an associated production method.
