Abstract:
A communication apparatus comprising an antenna for backscattering an incoming RF signal in accordance with a reflection coefficient of the antenna. The communication apparatus comprises at least one low pass delta sigma modulator which modulates the signal at its input and digitally controls the output of a variable impedance circuit, wherein the reflection coefficient of the antenna is varied based on the output of the variable impedance circuit. This communication device can be used in applications such as RFID tags.
Abstract:
A communication apparatus comprises power receiving means for receiving electrical power wirelessly supplied from another communication apparatus; first communication means for performing, in response to a first power reception by the power receiving means and using electrical power received in the first power reception by the power receiving means, communication for requesting a second power reception; second communication means for performing wireless communication, wherein an antenna that is used for communication by the second communication means differs from an antenna that is used for communication by the first communication means; and control means for controlling the second communication means to operate using electrical power received in the second power reception by the power receiving means.
Abstract:
An RFID card includes a smartcard controller that receives power from a host device. The RFID card also includes a small inductive device capable of inductive coupling with an RFID reader. The small inductive device is small enough to fit in the form factor of a memory card or SIM card. Enhancement circuits enhance the usable read and write distance of the RFID card.
Abstract:
A near field RF communicator has an antenna circuit (1020 coupled to an active switched rectifier (301) to rectify a received RF magnetic field signal. The active switched rectifier also has a passive mode of operation. A switching mechanism in the forward conducting arms of the rectifier is controlled by a comparator (309). A switching mechanism to control ground clamping of each respective input from the antenna circuit is provided by a coupling to the other respective input from the antenna circuit.
