    摘要: A gas sensor diagnostic method includes the steps of counting the reversal number of times that a target air-fuel ratio for an air-fuel mixture to be supplied to an internal combustion engine reverses from a rich side to a lean side or from the lean side to the rich side through a specific air-fuel ratio defined as a boundary of the rich and lean sides; obtaining a detection signal of a gas sensor at constant time intervals during a diagnosis period between a timing when the count for the reversal number is started and a timing when the reversal number reaches a predetermined number; calculating a moderated signal by applying a moderation calculation using a predetermined moderation coefficient to the obtained detection signal; calculating a deviation between the obtained detection signal and the calculated moderated signal; and determining whether the gas sensor is in an abnormal state or not on the basis of the deviation.

    摘要: An NOx-concentration detecting apparatus enables a user to readily know a record of operating conditions of an NOx sensor. The apparatus includes an NOx sensor, pumping-current control means, constant-voltage application means, NOx-concentration detecting means, a heater and writing means for writing to a recorder variation of at least one parameter selected from a first pumping current value, a second pumping current value, the concentration of oxygen contained in the measurement gas and the concentration of NOx in the measurement gas. Also disclosed is an NOx-concentration detecting apparatus capable of determining the concentration of NOx at a high resolution even when different NOx sensors are used. The NOx-concentration detecting apparatus detects the first pumping current IP1 and the second pumping current Ip2, corrects the detected values based on correction data stored on a floppy disk, and determines the concentration of NOx in the measurement gas using stored standard characteristics.

    摘要: A connector 2b for an NOx sensor is connected via a cable C to an end of a sensor body 2a through which a first pump current and a second pump current flow according to the concentration of oxygen and that of NOx, respectively, contained in a gas to be measured. The connector 2b is provided with not only terminals for inputting a signal to and outputting a signal from the sensor body 2a but also a label resistor RL having resistance corresponding to characteristics (relationship between oxygen concentration and first pump current and that between NOx concentration and second pump current) of the sensor body 2a and label signal output terminals T01 and T02 connected to opposite ends of the label resistor RL. On the basis of characteristics of the sensor body 2a, which are identified from the resistance of the label resistor RL which, in turn, is identified via the terminals T01 and T02, the oxygen concentration and the NOx concentration are accurately obtained from detected values of the first and second pump currents. This enables an NOx sensor to always perform accurate measurement irrespective of variations in characteristics among NOx sensors.

    摘要: For minimizing spark energy and improving durability of a spark plug (13) without controlling a time for energizing a primary wiring (L1), the ignition unit (1,2 and 3) for an internal combustion engine is arranged in that actions of a transistor (17) are controlled by an ECU (19) to abruptly interrupt a primary current (i1) such that high voltage for ignition induced to a secondary wiring (L2) is applied on the spark plug (13) for generating spark discharge. For forcibly interrupting spark discharge at a spark discharge duration, the ECU (19) switches the thyristor (21 and 210) ON to supply current to the primary wiring (L1) for forcibly interrupting the spark discharge. By controlling the spark discharge duration to be optimum on a basis of an operating condition of the internal combustion engine, it is possible to restrict generation of multiple discharge and to restrict exhaustion of electrodes of the spark plug (13). It is also possible to realize spark discharge through a simple arrangement of low cost by simply providing a single thyristor (21 and 210).
