A method for controlling a rotary tablet press comprises the steps of consecutively supplying material into each die of a die table, subjecting the material to a pre-compression and a main-compression, measuring, during the pre-compression, a value representative of the weight of material compressed, and during the main-compression, a value representative of the hardness of the resulting tablet.
