A process for continuously producing an elastomeric composition is described comprising the step of dosing into at least one extruder (5, 20) at least one ingredient by means of a dosing device (3, 8a, 8b, 10a, 10b, 14, 24), wherein the dosing step is regulated on the basis of : i) actual weight values of the at least one ingredient measured at dosing instants of an evaluation time period of predetermined duration preceding a given dosing instant; ii) expected weight values of the at least one ingredient calculated for corresponding dosing instants of the evaluation time period of predetermined duration preceding the dosing instant; and iii) expected weight values of the at least one ingredient calculated for a prediction time period of predetermined duration following the dosing instant; so as to minimize: - a prediction weight error between actual weight values measured during the prediction time period and the expected weight values calculated for the prediction time period, and - a model weight error between actual weight values measured during the prediction time period and theoretical weight values of the at least one ingredient corresponding to the target weight loss of the at least one ingredient.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Blasformen von Hohlkörpern (6) aus thermoplastischem Kunststoff, bei dem schlauchförmige Vorformlinge (1) aus Kuststoffschmelze hergestellt und diese anschließend aufgeweitet werden. Die Kunststoffschmelze tritt aus einem Düsenspalt (5) aus, der von einem mit der Vorformlingsbildung ablaufenden Wanddickenprogramm (3) gesteuert wird, welches das Volumen der für einen Vorformling benötigten Kunststoffschmelze in eine vorgegebene Anzahl (n) Volumenabschnitte unterteilt und diesen Volumenabschnitten Düsenspaltstellwerte zuordnet. Die Düsenspaltstellwerte bilden eine über die Anzahl n Volumenabschnitte aufgetragene Programmkurve. Erfindungsgemäß wird anhand mindestens einer Meßgröße die Materialverteilung im Vorformling mit einer Vorgabe verglichen und werden den Düsenspaltstellwerten der Programmkurve Korrekturwerte aufgeschaltet, die das Durchhängen des Vorformlings beeinflussen, wenn die gemessene Materialverteilung von der Vorgabe abweicht.

An extrusion blow mounding control system for controlling parison wall thickness in an extrusion blow moulding machine comprises a wall thickness controller 10 for controlling the width of an extrusion die gap 5 defining parison wall thickness within the machine, an interface unit 14 for supplying an input signal to the wall thickness controller 10 dependent on an actual position signal from a position transducer 12 indicative of the actual position of a movable die member 6 delimiting the die gap 5, and an output for supplying a desired position signal from the wall thickness controller to an electrohydraulic servo valve 9 for controlling the position of the movable die member 6 to provide a desired width of the die gap 5. The interface unit 14 comprises signal processing circuitry for receiving the actual position signal from the position transducer 12 and a feedback signal from an automatic weighing system 16 indicative of weight variation of product outputted by the machine and for producing the input signal for the wall thickness controller 10 in dependence on the actual position signal and the feedback signal. Such a closed loop control system can be used to control the weight of the final product within a narrow weight range, and this results in improved product consistency and quality, as well as enabling the total quantity of moulding material used in moulding of the product to be decreased.

Apparatus for preparing and dispensing thermoplastic resin has a conveyor with a chamber provided with heating elements, a conveyor screw mounted in the chamber and connected to a drive motor, a resin inlet and a resin outlet. To ensure the intended continuous dispensing of the resin even during intermittent operation, a control device is provided having inputs connected to a resin pressure sensor, a conveyor speed of rotation sensor and a resin temperature sensor. Intended values for the conveyor speed, resin pressure and resin temperature are supplied to the control device, which regulates the pressure during interruption of the dispensing of the resin and effects a speed regulation or a pressure regulation with a superimposed speed regulation during dispensing of the resin. For plasticizing of the resin, which is supplied in solid, preferably granular form, and since the conveyor geometry is designed to produce minimum friction, external heating by the heating elements is required. The temperature at the outlet is monitored by the temperature sensor and regulated by the control device.
