    摘要: The printer control module (900) is programmed to output control signals to the printer driver (PHB) characterized by data written in registers. The printer control module is in communication also with a programmable microcomputer (13). The microcomputer (13) has a non-volatile memory unit (mu) for storing the data. The printer driver unit (PHB) is responsive to control signals from the printer control module (900) for driving the printer unit. The printer control module (900) includes a buffer for holding printer data, a control register, a shift register and a strobe width register. A strobe signal module generates a strobe signal for the printer driver unit having one of a plurality of strobe widths selected in response to the data written in the strobe width register. The control module also selectively enables one of a plurality of clock signals for the printer driver unit in response to data written in the control register. A shift module causes printer data to be delivered to the printer driver unit in one of a plurality of frame sizes in response to data written in the shift register.

    摘要: The sorting process comprises performing a first and at least a second consecutive sorting cycle by means of a postal machine and the present invention relates to a method of balancing to be performed before the commencement of the sorting process and comprising the step of performing, in at least one of the sorting cycles, at least one of the following procedures:

    a) a first procedure of balancing the load of the outputs of the postal machine in the current sorting cycle based on at least one of the following balancing criteria:

    shifting the delivery addresses from the outputs to which they are assigned to respective logically contiguous outputs associated with the same postman;
    bisection of delivery address into respective pairs of virtually separate delivery address and allocating them to a respective pair of logically contiguous outputs associated with the same postman; and
    allocation of further outputs to postmen on the basis of an order of criticality of the outputs already allocated to the postman themselves; and

    b) a second procedure of balancing the load of the outputs of the postal machine in the current sorting cycle based on at least one of the following balancing criteria:

    distribution over outputs utilised in the current sorting cycle of delivery addresses allocated to each output at the end of the subsequent sorting cycle;
    shifting the delivery addresses from the outputs to which they are allocated to respective logically contiguous outputs;
    exchange of delivery addresses between logically contiguous outputs; and
    bisection of delivery addresses into respective pairs of virtually separate delivery addresses and allocating them to a respective pair of logically contiguous outputs.

    摘要: A system and method for remote postage metering of postage indicia, including demanding a desired postage amount and subsequently printing the postage indicia onto a piece of mail. A user inputs certain necessary information, as well as additional desired information, into a local processor-based system. The local system then assembles a postage demand in suitable format and transmits the same to a remote postage metering device. The remote postage metering device then verifies the demand for authority to demand and valid funding. Upon verification, the remote postage meter assembles a data packet representing an authorized postage indicia. The data packet is transmitted to the local system for printing. Printing of the postage indicia may be unaccompanied, or may include additional information. Such additional information may include destination and return address, machine readable routing or identification information, or a complete document to be posted.

    摘要: The invention is a method and system for creating an address object, in an object oriented development environment of a data processing system. The address object is utilized during the creation of a document within a data processing system. The method includes both the object creation environment and the method of object utilization. The method establishes an object creation function (200) within the data processing system, and then instantiates the address object by registering (202) an object class within the object creation function, and then naming the class. Instantiation of the object (204) establishes a programming interface to the address object. The properties of the address object are established (206) by placing a set of object methods (208) such as storage instructions, display instructions, and, printing instructions, together with: postal coding functionality (210); address manipulation functionality (212); a set of addressing data tables (214); and, a human interface (216) within the address object by utilizing the established programming interface. The system user invokes the address object which causes the system to perform postal coding and address manipulation on the address field under control of the address object. The system establishes and utilizes (218) the address object by employing data processing means for manipulating data; memory means for storing a plurality of data tables for use by the data processing means; input means for inputting data to the system; and, output means for outputting data from the system.
