The invention is a polymerization process for ethylene copolymers having a density less than 0.915 comprising contacting ethylene, one or more α-olefin monomer, and optionally one or more diene monomer, with a catalyst composition comprising the reaction product of at least one organometallic Group 4 metallocene compound derived from a bridged, fused-ring ligand containing biscyclopentadienyl hafnocene, said bridge being a substituted or unsubstituted carbon or silicon atom connecting the biscyclopentadienyl ligands, and a salt of a Group 13 element anionic complex having halogenated aromatic ligands in an essentially tetrahedral structure wherein the aromatic groups are polycyclic fused or pendant aromatic rings. The process is particularly suitable for the preparation of high comonomer content and high molecular weight ethylene-α-olefin plastomers and ethylene-propylene or ethylene-propylene-diene monomer elastomers.

Motor vehicle vibration damping parts based on an ethylene, alpha-olefin, vinyl norbornene elastomeric polymer are manufactured with more efficiency due to vibration damping part compounds having lower viscosity, easier processing than ethylene, alpha-olefins, diene monomer compounds, where the diene monomer is other than vinyl norbornene. Additionally, the engine mounts or other vibration damping parts based on the ethylene, alpha-olefin, vinyl norbornene elastomeric polymer have better heat aging characteristics than natural rubber, when temperature of service exceed 120 °C, maintain more constant dynamic characteristics of the mount when running at elevated temperature like 120 °C. Finally the engine mounts or other vibration damping parts based on the ethylene, alpha-olefin, vinyl norbornene elastomeric polymer can be manufactured with compound containing less peroxide as curing agent, than ethylene, alpha-olefins, diene monomer compounds, where the diene monomer is other than vinyl norbornene. Those engine mounts or other vibration damping parts based on the ethylene, alpha-olefin, vinyl norbornene elastomeric polymer provide better aging properties so the service life of the parts are greatly extended vs. natural rubber part.

Specifically, it relates to yarn produced from propylene polymer compositions based on terpolymers of propylene with ethylene and C₄-C₈ alpha-olefin; compositions of copolymers of propylene with C₄-C₈ alpha-olefin together with copolymers of propylene and ethylene or terpolymers of propylene-ethylene-C₄-C₈ alpha-olefin; compositions of terpolymers of propylene, ethylene and C₄-C₈ alpha-olefin in combination with copolymers of propylene and C₄-C₈ alpha-olefin as well as copolymers of ethylene and C₄-C₈ alpha-olefin; random crystalline propylene copolymers with ethylene or a C₄-C₈ alpha-olefin as well as such compositions containing elastomeric propylene copolymers. In particular, the invention relates to yarn produced from blends of such copolymers and terpolymers and compositions with crystalline polypropylene homopolymer.
