摘要: A structural element (1, 20, 30, 40) comprises a web (2) extending between a pair of flanges (3, 4). The areas of particular structural importance are the portions (5, 6) of theweb and flanges adjacent to the junction between the web and the flanges. Material is gathered into these structurally important areas of an otherwise thin component. This is achieved by providing a plurality of small ribs (10) to absorb the material in these structurally important areas (5, 6). The ribs (10) are on a pitch of 2 to 8 times the wall thickness t. The pitch is approximately the same as a typical self drilling, self tapping fastener to prevent skating of the fastener, on fixing. The ribs (10) are of a depth of between 1.5t and 3.0t, where t is the metal thickness. These parameters ensure that in terms of fixing, the ribs allow a fastening screw to be used and to perform in the same manner as with a flat faced flange or web.

摘要: A method of treating an external surface of a roof, such as the external surface of a roofing membrane, to enhance fire performance, the method comprising the steps of: applying to the exterior of the roofing membrane a flexible fibrous barrier, and a fire retardant composition which is flowable, for example in a liquid form, wherein the barrier comprises a flexible layer of fibrous material; so that the flexible fibrous barrier is impregnated with the fire retardant composition; and allowing the composition to cure and/or dry. Also disclosed is an applicator trolley for applying a flexible barrier to an external surface of a roof, such as the external surface of a roofing membrane, to enhance fire performance, the applicator comprising:
(a) a wheeled frame,
(b) a holder on the frame, the holder for holding a roll of flexible fibrous material,
(c) a dispenser on the frame, the dispenser for dispensing the flexible fibrous material from the roll onto the external surface of the roof.-

摘要: A prefabricated composite insulation board comprises a facing of a flexible sheet material and a plurality of vacuum insulation panels (VIP) adhesive bonded thereto. A body of insulating foam overlies the vacuum insulating panels and the carrier. There are gaps between adjacent vacuum insulation panels and these gaps are filled with the foam. Alternatively, groups of VIP's may be positioned close to one another and gaps left at defined locations. These gaps may be used to provide regions at which the panel may be cut to a desired length without cutting through and VIP's. External markings such as cut-lines may be provided to indicated the location of these gaps.

The cladding parts may have any desired surface finish. The cladding parts provide a finished façade. The panel incorporates a support grid that transfers load directly to a building structural framework. The panels also have interengagable features that facilitate joining between a plurality of panels to form a finished façade.
