The method comprising the steps of sealing flexible front and rear sheets (12, 14) together at a common peripheral edge (16); heating the front and rear sheets (12, 14) in a first localised area to form a first peelable seal (24) extending between two sides of the common peripheral edge (16), the first peelable seal (24) separably joining the front and rear sheets (12, 14) to thereby form a first compartment (18) for containing a first product; and heating the front and rear sheets (12, 14) in a second localised area to form a second peelable seal (26) extending between the two sides of the common peripheral edge (16), the second peelable seal separably joining the front and rear sheets (12, 14) to thereby form an outlet compartment (22) and a second compartment (20) for containing a second product, the second compartment (20) being between the outlet compartment (22) and the first compartment (18). When the device is expelled from the device pusher (40), it returns to its expanded shape and lodges in a blood vessel (46), for example. Once lodged in the vessel, the device will initiate thrombus formation which will occlude the vessel. The final in situ form of the device with cone-like ends has the ability to adapt to a range of vessel sizes.

The catheter (1) of the present invention employs a forward facing pressure sensor (2) mounted at the distal tip of a balloon catheter. The pressure sensor (2), so oriented as shown in FIG. 1 avoids both the hydraulic coupling systems previously used and the described problems attendant their use, as well as the inaccuracies which can be encountered with the use of laterally facing strain gauge pressure sensors. The pressure readings obtained demonstrates no overshooting or mechanical resonance found in conventional catheters with connecting tubing for hydraulic coupling to an external dome transducer.
