摘要： A method of knitting single knit fabrics on a circular knitting machine such that the fabric has improved elasticity, soft hand and drapeability and including controlling two types of needles arranged alternately in the cylinder and sinkers arranged in the sinker dial through four processes in which alternate needles are raised to the knitting level in the first process and intervening needles are raised to the tucking level and an old loop has cleared the latch on each needle and a previously fed yarn is held in the hook of each intervening needle, a first ground yarn (G1) is fed to the alternate and intervening needles and the needles are lowered to a high welt level for the alternate needles so that the old loop is not knocked over and a low welt level for the intervening needles so that the old loop is knocked over and a new double yarn stitch loop is formed. The levels to which the alternate and intervening needles are raised are reversed in the third process.

摘要： An automatic winding and doffing apparatus of a circular knitting machine includes a winding unit (4) that revolves synchronously with the cylinder of the circular knitting machine. The apparatus includes opposed winding apparatus frame arms (16,17). A fabric winding roll (21) has one roll end pivotally mounted on one of the arms. A guide mechanism guides the knitted fabric to the winding roll. The fabric roll is stopped after a predetermined amount of fabric has been wound. A doffing apparatus doffs the fabric from the winding roll after a predetermined amount of fabric has been wound on the fabric roll. In preferred embodiment, the other winding roll end is freely supported by a turning lever (28) pivotally mounted on the frame. Upon pivoting movement of the lever arm, the winding roller may be moved from a home, winding position to an unloading, doffing position in which the other end of the winding roller is removed from the support arm. A lock mechanism operatively connects to the turning lever for locking the turning lever in a position in which the turning lever supports the winding roller in the home, winding position and for unlocking the turning lever to allow the turning lever (28) to pivot and disengage from the winding roller (21).

Each sinker is obliquely movable from an advanced, lower position to a receded, upper position. A pile position control ledge (8f) extends horizontally with respect to the incline of the sinker (8). The distance between the sinker nose (8d) and sinker pile position control ledge (8f) is more extended than in a conventional sinker, and as a result, the sinker nose (8d) can be positioned lower than that in a conventional sinker so as to form low piles.

Raising and lowering cams engage the rocking jacks (150) to raise and lower the rocking jacks (150) during pivoting movement thereof so as to raise and lower the sliders (26) and move the lever arms (22) and yarn feeding fingers (12-15) con­nected thereto between operative and nonoperative posi­tions.

The fabric includes successive courses of plain jersey stitch wales knit of a ground yarn (7) with each successive course also including a first pile loop yarn (8) knit with the ground yarn in selected groups of adjacent wales and forming an individual pile loop in each intervening sinker wale, and a second pile loop yarn (9) knit with the ground yarn in other groups of adjacent needle wales and forming an individual pile loop in each intervening sinker wale. Both the individual pile loops of the first and second pile loop yarns are positioned in side-by-side relationship in adjacent groups in each successive continuous ground yarn course so that the density of the pile loops corresponds with the density of the ground yarn stitch loops. The upstanding individual pile loops are adapted to be cut in a shearing operation to form a patterned velour jacquard fabric.
