Abstract:
A method for updating a location in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The method includes transmitting a request message to enter idle mode, receiving a response message including an Identifier (ID) of a first paging group and an ID of a second paging group in response to the request message, activating a paging group location update timer, when the MS leaves an area of the first paging group, and updating a location according to the paging group location update timer.
Abstract:
A method for detecting coverage loss in a broadband wireless access system is disclosed, which recognizes a connection state between a mobile station (MS) and a base station (BS), and provides a method and apparatus for quickly performing network re-entry when the MS moves out of a coverage area of the BS. A method for allowing a base station to perform coverage loss detection of a mobile station in a broadband wireless access system includes unsolicitedly transmitting a first message wherein a bit for requesting ranging execution is set, to the mobile station, and upon receiving a second message for confirming the ranging from the mobile station prior to expiration of a first timer that begins to operate when the first message is transmitted, restarting operating a second timer established for the mobile station.
Abstract:
A method for performing zone switch carried out by an advanced mobile station (AMS) operating in a first zone of a serving advanced base station (serving ABS) supporting a legacy mobile station (MS). The method includes receiving a handover command (AAI-HO-CMD) message indicating zone switching to a second zone of the serving ABS from the first zone, in which the handover command message is received in the first zone and provides information on a Connection Identifier (CID) to be used by the AMS in the second zone; performing network reentry in the second zone using the information on the CID; receiving an unsolicited ranging response (RNG-RSP) message in the second zone after the network reentry in the second zone is finished, in which the unsolicited RNG-RSP message indicates zone switching to the first zone of the serving ABS from the second zone; and performing network reentry in the first zone of the serving ABS. Further, the first zone supports AMSs and the second zone supports legacy MSs.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting and receiving ARQ feedback information in a wireless communication system is disclosed. A method for allowing a mobile station to transmit an ARQ feedback in a broadband wireless access system includes receiving an ARQ block and an ARQ feedback polling from the base station, wherein the ARQ feedback polling requests the mobile station to transmit ARQ feedback information indicating whether the ARQ block is successfully received, receiving a first uplink resource for transmitting the ARQ feedback from the base station, and determining whether the received ARQ block is successfully received. The first uplink resource has a minimum size capable of being allocated to the ARQ feedback information.
Abstract:
A method of allocating a paging carrier in a multi-carrier environment is disclosed. The method of allocating the paging carrier includes receiving a first message including first allocation information of the paging carrier, transmitting a second message for requesting entry into an idle mode to a base station; and receiving a third message including second allocation information of a changed paging carrier from the base station. At this time, the paging carrier includes a paging channel out of multiple carriers including one or more carriers.
Abstract:
A method of handover in a wireless communication system is disclosed. A method of handover of a mobile station in a wireless communication system with femtocells comprises transmitting a control message including at least one among information of first femtocell base station detected through initial scanning and location information of the mobile station to a base station; receiving information of one or more second femtocell base stations to which the mobile station is accessible, wherein the second femtocell base stations are searched based on the control message from the base station; and performing a handover to one of the second femtocell base stations.
