摘要： Softening-through-the-wash compositions ('STW compositions') are added to the wash cycle of a laundering process to soften fabrics. The STW compositions of the present invention comprise a particulate fabric softening active having an average particle size of less than about 800 microns in diameter. The STW compositions are substantially free of detersive surfactants and silicone materials. The STW compositions can further comprise a particulate co-softening compound having an average particle size of less than about 800 microns in diameter. The STW compositions comprise an effective amount of the particulate fabric softening active and optional particulate co-softening compound to provide a concentration of the fabric softening active and optional co-softening compound of at least about 50 parts per million when the STW composition is dispensed in a wash solution of the laundering process. Processes to make these STW compositions are also encompassed in the present invention.

摘要： The present invention provides an article of manufacture or package for containing and dispensing unitized doses of a laundry additive in article form. The package comprises a plurality of laundry additive articles (30), means for preventing exposure of the laundry articles to moisture prior to dispensing or use, and a container (10) having a compartment (25) and closure (20) for enclosing the plurality of articles in the container. The container can be a tub, tray, jar, bottle, pouch, bag, box or some combination thereof and will preferably be made from polymeric materials. Optionally, the container may have dividing means (28) for subdividing the container compartment into subcompartments so that the container can accomodate a variety of different additives in separate compartments. Optionally, but preferably, the container closure will have child resistant features as well as a window or other means for viewing the contents of the package when the closure is in a closed position. The means for preventing exposure of the articles to moisture may simply be a seal about the container closure or it may comprise separate a seal of each laundry additive article. Seals for the individual articles will preferably be a tray (32) with a recess formed therein for receiving the laundry additive article and a polymeric film (38) adhered to the tray over the recess to seal the article within.

摘要： An air freshening composition including porous carrier particles having a perfume composition entrapped therein, and a second component selected from an inert filer, hygroscopic agent, binder, coating material, moisture providing agent, and mixtures thereof. The composition may further comprise various optional components such as free perfumes, colorants, disintegrants, water swelling agents, porosity modifiers and mixtures thereof. A method for processing the compositions into a solid article includes the steps of entrapping a perfume in the porous carrier particles, heating and incorporating a carrier or binder material. The compositions may be further processed by optionally incorporating a powder inert filler and forming articles from the mixture. The articles may be formed from the compositions through prilling, extrusion, or compaction amongst other techniques. The air freshening articles and compositions will provide a sustained and controlled release of the perfume compositions over a long period of time without the use of a heat to activate the release. Articles of manufacture including the air freshening articles and various packaging are also disclosed.

摘要： Compositions, articles and methods are provided for supplying fabric care benefits to clothing or fabrics in an automated washing machine and by manual washing. The fabric care compositions preferably have less than about 5% detergent surfactants, more preferably less than 3%, even more preferably less than 1% and are most preferably free of detergent surfactants. Similarly, the fabric care compositions preferably have less than about 5% fabric softener actives, more preferably less than 3%, even more preferably less than 1% and are most preferably free of detergent surfactants. The laundry articles can take a variety of forms in a variety of physical states all of which will rapidly dispense a unitized amount of one or more selected fabric care agents to a wash and/or rinse bath solution during the laundering process under a variety of conditions. The invention also pertains to laundry kits that contain a variety of such articles and instructions concerning their use. Likewise, methods for preparing a customized laundry solution to obtain a specific fabric care benefit selected based on the user's personal preferences and/or the fabric care needs of the fabrics being laundered are also provided. Further, the present invention also concerns methods for assisting a consumer in identifying the unitized articles to be used in preparing a laundry solution that will impart desired fabric care benefits as well as merchandising displays for dispensing the articles, assembling customized laundry kits and instructing the consumer on the selection and use of laundry articles.

摘要： Clear or translucent rinse-added fabric softening compositions are provided via the present invention which have reduced solvent or solvatrope levels. The composition according to the invention comprise: a) a fabric softening active; b) a principal solvent; c) a principal solvent extender; and d) the balance carriers and adjunct ingredients. Preferred enbodiments include low perfume level formulations. A preferred class of principal solvent extenders includes hydrophobic oils that aids in fluidizing the system which is characterized by a freezing point of less than 22 °C for in a mixture of the principle solvent extender and 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol (20 %/80 % by wt.). These principal solvent extenders include materials such as benzyl benzoate, methyl esters derived from canola oil, and mixtures thereof. Alternatively, the preferred principal solvent extenders include cumene sulfonates, xylene sulfonates, toluene sulfonates, C6-C14 sulfonates and sulfates, and mixtures thereof.
