Abstract:
The present disclosure describes a treated cellulosic material comprising a cellulosic material having a porous structure defining a plurality of pores, at least a portion of the pores containing a treating agent comprising a polymer, the polymer comprising a polyurethane polymer. The present disclosure further describes a method for preparing a treated cellulosic material comprising providing a cellulosic material; and a first treatment protocol comprising impregnating the cellulosic material with an aqueous dispersion comprising a polymer, the polymer comprising a polyurethane polymer; and a second treatment protocol comprising impregnating the cellulosic material with a modifying agent, the modifying agent comprising a hydrophobic amine.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a laminate comprises - providing a binder impregnated core layer by impregnating at least one fibrous layer with an aqueous core binder solution having a viscocity in the range 75 cP to 500 cP at a temperature of 20°C and a bake-out solid content in the range 40 wt% to 85 wt%, in which the aqueous core binder solution comprises (i) at least 25% by dry weight of a) reducing sugar reactant(s) and nitrogen-containing reactant(s) and/or b) curable reaction product(s) of reducing sugar reactant(s) and nitrogen-containing reactant(s); and (ii) between 5% and 15% by weight of a non-aqueous solvent based on the total weight of the aqueous binder solution; - providing a semi-finished assembly by assembling the binder impregnated core layer with a surface layer; and - applying heat and pressure to the semi-finished assembly to cure the binder in the binder impregnated core layer and secure the core layer and the surface layer together.
Abstract:
A method of preparing an aqueous emulsion of a sizing agent for use in a papermaking process comprising, emulsifying the sizing agent into an aqueous liquid, in which an aqueous dispersion of a water-soluble polymer of N-vinylformamide and/or N-vinylacetamide units is added to either the sizing agent or the aqueous liquid before, during or after emulsification, wherein the dispersion contains, based on 100 parts by weight of water, (A) from 0.1 to 80 parts by weight of a water-soluble polymer containing N-vinylformamide units and/or N-vinylacetamide units, and (B) from 0.02 to 50 parts by weight of at least one polymeric dispersant.
Abstract:
There is provided a method of manufacturing a paper-forming product formed of an environmentally friendly paper coating agent, which is excellent in water resistance, oil resistance, thermally adhesive property, and alkaline water-dissociative property, the method including mixing alkali metal hydroxide, amines, ammonia water, or the like with each of an ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer or an ethylene-(meth)acrylic acid copolymer or a mixture of these polymers, and using a water-dispersible coating solution prepared by adding FDA-approved matting agent, slip agent, and anti-foaming agent into a water-dispersible resin solution prepared by neutralizing the mixed product in an aqueous medium.

Abstract:
A method of producing a paper board comprising: a pulping step of disintegrating and beating fibers from a pulp raw material containing waste paper as a main raw material to obtain pulping process water; a stock preparation step of adding an additive containing a paper strength additive to the obtained pulping process water to obtain a prepared pulp raw material; and a paper-making step of making the obtained prepared pulp raw material into a paper board, wherein the paper board is produced by adding (a) an aqueous solution of hypochlorite and (b) an aqueous solution of water-soluble inorganic ammonium salt or ammonia water to the pulping process water to reduce the amount of the paper strength additive added in the stock preparation step.
