A blade assembly for the cutting mechanism of a garden chipper consists of a number of cutting disks (8) that have cutting edges (14) jutting out along their circumference and that are rotatably mounted coaxially to and adjoining one another on a rotatively driven drive plate (3), projecting into the cutting chamber for the matter to be chipped. To simplify and solidify the rotational drive of the cutting disks (8), each cutting disk has on one side at least one boss (15) and on its other side at least one recess (18) to provide an interlocking fit with the adjoining cutting disk.

Zu diesem Zweck versetzt man über der Bodenoberfläche eine Vielzahl von durch Fliehkraft gespannten, an einer Welle befestigten, allseitig flexiblen Elementen mittels dieser Welle in Umlauf, wobei der Umlaufradius der Enden dieser flexiblen Elemente größer ist als der gewählte Abstand der Drehachse der Welle von der Bodenoberfläche. Um dabei größere Flächenbereiche erheblich unebener und inhomogener Waldböden maschinell bearbeiten zu können, setzt man die horizontale Drehachse der Welle zusätzlich einer hin und her gehenden Schwenkbewegung um eine vertikale Schwenkachse aus, wobei die Drehachse der Welle im wesentlichen radial zur Schwenkachse gehalten und in einer Kreisringfläche bewegt wird, die parallel zur Bodenoberfläche ausgerichtet ist. Die Vorrichtung dazu besteht aus einem Fahrzeug (1) mit einem Fahrwerk (2). Am Fahrzeug ist ein relativ zum Fahrwerk drehbarer Aufbau (6) angeordnet, an dem die Welle (14) im wesentlichen radial zur Schwenkachse (5) gelagert ist. Aufbau (6) und Welle (14) besitzen motorische Antriebe.

The present invention relates to a flywheel (20) for a chipping/shredding machine (10). It also relates to a chipping/shredding machine having such a flywheel. The flywheel having an axis and a direction of rotation (X-X) and comprising: a first disc (30) with a centre and an outer edge, a second disc (40) with a centre and an outer edge, and at least one radial vane (50) arranged between the first and second disc; whereby, on rotation of the flywheel, the vane generates an airflow from outside the outer face of the second disc, passing substantially axially through the airflow aperture and exiting the flywheel substantially radially outwardly of the discs.
