    摘要： Featured is a package or carrier (10) for releasably holding any of a number of medical devices including a rigid member (14) that is interconnected to a flexible member (16) such as suture (14) -needle (16) combinations. The package (10) includes a support unit having a long axis (11), which support unit is configured so as to include a handle/cover member (20), a face cover member (30), a stationary panel (50), a plurality of folding panels (60a, 60c), and a plurality (i.e., two or more) of securing members (40) that releasably secure or retain portions of the medical device and/or portions of the interconnected flexible member to the package (10). The handle/cover members (20) is foldable in either of two positions. In the first position a part of the handle/cover member (20) covers a portion of the stationary panel (50) that is not covered by the face cover member (30). In the second position, this portion of the stationary panel (50) becomes uncovered to expose the medical devices that are secured therein and when the handle cover member (20) is folded into the second position, it also is relocated so as to create a handle for package (10) and so a portion of the rigid member extends beyond an edge of the open package. The support unit can further include thereon a mounting member (70) to releasably retain the rigid member. Also featured are medical device kits embodying such a package (10), a method for dispensing medical devices or sutures using such a package (10) and methods related thereto.

    摘要： Suture dispensers for retaining armed sutures are disclosed. The dispenser disclosed is comprised of two flat panels of material that each have a central opening. A needle park is provided so that the needle is visible in and accessible though the central openings. In preferred embodiments, the needle park is made of a thin sheet of clear material. Several alternate needle park designs are also disclosed. The two panels are preferably locked together using edge locks in the form of corresponding slits and tabs formed on the panels themselves. In addition to being inexpensive, easy to manufacture and easy to fill, the disclosed dispensers is much thinner than current designs and thus requires less storage and shipping space. Methods of loading dispensers are also disclosed. By winding the suture material in a flat spiral around a set of winding pins, the disclosed dispensers can be easily and accurately filled, yet the resulting coiled suture can be withdrawn via the central openings without twisting or kinking the suture material. In certain embodiments pressure on the central portion of the panels permits winding a spiral without the need for a central winding core. In other embodiments, pins are used to both align the panels and provide a winding guide for the suture material. a suture winding apparatus is also disclosed. The winding apparatus has upper and lower plates and a base member. A pair of opposed arcuate members extends downwardly from the lower plate.

    摘要： The present invention refers to a foldable package (100, 200) for surgical products, composed of a plurality of foldable panels (101-106) and particularly suitable for holding a surgical suture (115) wound in a non-crossed over manner on pins (111) that penetrate orifices (110; 201, 202) in a first retaining panel (101) and preferably arranged along semi-circular paths. In this manner, even a suture (115) having a large memory may be held for long periods of time in the package of this invention without taking up an accentuatedly wavy shape after withdrawal from the package (100, 200). Further according to the present invention, the package includes a tongue-slot type locking means (130, 131) for maintaining the package (100, 200) folded and closed, the respective slot (131)being arranged transversally half way along the first retaining panel (101).
