Each chain unit (110), (110') includes first V-shaped blocks (115) for supporting compression line springs. The upper chain conveyor includes chain units (210) and (210') provided facing each other at positions spaced apart from each other. Each chain unit (210), (210') includes second V-shaped blocks (215) for compressing downward upper portions of the compression line springs seated on the first V-shaped blocks (115) and thus supporting the compression line springs. The grinding units (300) grind seat surfaces formed on opposite ends of the compression line springs that are being moved by the lower chain conveyor and the upper chain conveyor.

Das Maschinenoberteil ist in einer zur Werkstückauflagefläche im Wesentlichen senkrechten Richtung beweglich. Weiter umfasst das Schleifaggregat ein Antriebsmittel (4), insbesondere einen Elektromotor, zum Antreiben eines mit dem Maschinenoberteil in Verbindung stehenden Schleifmittels. Im Besonderen ist die erfindungsgemäße Vorrichtung dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Antriebsmittel am Maschinenbett befestigt ist.

A method of tensioning and operating a belt is applied to a sanding machine comprising an endless abrasive belt (3) trained around an operating unit (2) equipped with an orbiting sanding platen (4) at the bottom of the unit. A roller (14) at the top of the unit (2) is supported by supports (15) and comprises rotational drive means (6). While it operates, the belt (3) is kept in the tensioned state by means (16) for lifting the roller (14), and the tensioned state holds the belt (3) against the active surface (5) of the platen (4). The turning of the belt (3) is enabled or inhibited by the rotation or stopping of the roller (14) during the steps of changing the working part (10) of the belt (3) and of sanding the panels (1), respectively. The kinematic coupling between the roller (14) and the belt (3) is achieved by the friction produced by the tensioning action.

An abrading machine is disclosed for abrasion of substantially plane items by use of rotating abrading discs (5,5'), which are moved simultaneously forwards and backwards transverse to the item and which preferably has downward extending abrasive lamellae. The machine also preferably comprises one, typically two, opposite rotating abrading cylinders (7,7') fitted with elongated abrasive elements radially mounted on the abrading cylinder and has abrasive lamellae extending outwards from the cylinder. By moving the abrading discs in a reciprocatory movement (4) transverse to the direction of feed (A) of the items it is achieved that traces etc. from the different abrasive properties of the abrading discs are eliminated as well as all parts of milled out areas etc. are evenly abraded, particularly if the abrading device is designed for using abrading discs with abrasive means comprising abrasive lamellae made of abrasive cloth and which extend downwards from the face of the abrading disc.
