A method for continuous production of ammonium paratungstate hydrates by back extraction of a tungsten-containing organic phase with an aqueous ammonia solution. It is possible to directly produce coarse crystalline ammonium paratungstate hydrates on back extraction by selection of suitable method parameters. The above crystallise in high purity and in high yield. The production method can be carried out in a simple and energy-efficient manner.

The present invention describes a new class of high porosity materials with aerogel properties, based on metal oxides and their composites, possessing a high surface area and a high pore volume distributed within a specific pore diameter range. The pore distribution is monomodal and the porosity of the material is greater than 80%, conferring aerogel properties thereon while the absence of micropores (pores less than 2 nm in diameter) confers a high thermal stability to these materials. The characteristics of the product, including a low, if not zero, macroporosity, confer on the material a low dustiness compared to conventional aerogels, thus enabling them to be used effectively in production cycles.

According to the present invention, there are provided hydrotalcite-based compound particles that are surface-treated with an organic compound having not less than 3 carbon atoms, and have a specific surface area of 5 to 150 m 2 /g. The hydrotalcite-based compound particles of the present invention are capable of capturing even a very small amount of halogens contained in various resins, and are excellent at preventing deterioration of the resins. Further, the hydrotalcite-based compound particles of the present invention are used in the form of particles or a molded product and are capable of capturing an anionic organic or inorganic compound from a solution to a maximum extent without themselves being dissolved in the solution.

In a nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery according to the invention, hexagonal system lithium containing cobalt composite oxide having a crystallite size in a (110) vector direction of 1000Å or more and having a halogen compound added thereto by burning at time of synthesis is used as a positive electrode active material. By measuring a pH value of a filtrate obtained by dispersing, in water, the lithium containing cobalt composite oxide having the halogen compound added thereto by the burning at time of the synthesis and a crystallite size in the (110) vector direction of 1000Å or more, a value of 9.6 to 10.1 is obtained. By using the lithium containing cobalt composite oxide as a positive electrode active material, a high temperature cycle property can be enhanced.
