Um ein Schneidwerkzeug der eingangs genannten Art zu Verfügung zu stellen, das bei einfacher Herstellung einen breiten Anwendungsbereich bietet, ist vorgesehen, dass die Hartmetalltragschicht (14) über der Stirnfläche und/oder Oberfläche des Grundkörpers (10) hervorsteht und dass aus der Hartmetalltragschicht (14) zumindest abschnittsweise ein über der Oberfläche und/oder Stirnfläche vorstehendes aktives Teil in Form zumindest eines Abschnitts der Schneidkante einer Bohrspitze oder Borschneide und/oder spanführendes Teil (28) in Form einer Spanleitfläche oder Spanleitstufe ausgebildet wird.
