摘要： A car-mounted sound device wherein the portability of a face plate is improved by not equipping it with a switch and wherein after the face plate has been removed, the device is not activated even if a switch on a device main body (10) is operated. A face plate (30) is detachably provided on the device main body (10), and there is equipped not switch but an operation key (320) on this face plate (30). Provided on the side of the device main body (10) are a microcomputer (40) for controlling sound signals and an input section (44) constituted by switches for inputting various types of information. An activating condition setting means (60) is provided for keeping the microcomputer (40) inactive even if a power source switch is operated after the face plate (30) has been removed. This activating condition setting means (60) has two switches (62, 64) that are turned on simultaneously when the face plate (30) is removed. When the two switches remain turned on, the microcomputer (40) is not activated, and the device main body (10) is not operated.

摘要： An audio device includes a playback device, such as a tape or CD player, and a radio. The audio device can be set to interrupt the playback device, upon receiving a signal, to output a special broadcast, such as a traffic information broadcast. When the playback device is interrupted during normal playback, playback is paused. Therefore, when the audio device switches back to the playback, the recording continues from the point at which playback was interrupted. When the playback device is interrupted during a special function, such as rewind or fast-foreword, the playback device is permitted to continue the special function to its completion while the broadcast is output.

A computer system is built into the multi-item media player. A software based media changer model executes on the computer system, and in turn, causes the computer system to implement a method of accessing the media changer mechanism. In so doing, the computer system interfaces with a plurality of devices coupled to the multi-item media player via an IEEE 1394 communications link of an IEEE 1394 based network and provides a standardized command set for the media changer mechanism.
