摘要： In a wireless local area network, a method and apparatus for providing a multicast address data packet from a single access point to one or more mobile units coupled to the access point is disclosed. A data frame packet is formed containing two or more data packets, each packet targeted for different mobile units having unique unicast addresses. The data frame is transmitted to the mobile units and each of the mobile units derives the proper data intended for it from the data packets, by examining the unicast addresses of each packet.

摘要： A system in which a packet-sending entity and a packet-receiving entity communicate using parameter signalling channels (SCCH) and also using shared data channels (SDCH) and do so according to a protocol in which when packet data are transmitted over one or more transmission time intervals (TTIs), the communication being such that once a parameter signalling channel is assigned to the packet-receiving entity for communicating a packet, the assigned channel is used in each subsequent TTI as long as there is at least a portion of the packet in the subsequent TTI. When there is, the packet-receiving entity despreads and decodes only one parameter signalling channel for the subsequent TTI along with the data channels. When there is not, the packet-receiving entity despreads all the parameter signalling channels for the subsequent TTI, and may decode some or all of the parameter signalling channels.

摘要： In a method for generating a physical layer (PHY) data unit for transmission via a communication channel, the PHY data unit conforming to a first communication protocol, a first communication device generates a PHY preamble for the PHY data unit, including: generating a signal field, including the signal field and a duplicate of the signal field in the PHY preamble, and formatting the PHY preamble such that a first portion of the PHY preamble is decodable by a second communication device that conforms to a second communication protocol, but does not conform to the first communication protocol, to determine a duration of the PHY data unit based on the first portion of the PHY preamble. The first communication device generates the PHY data unit to include the PHY preamble and a PHY payload.
