The depolariser material includes a recess within which a ferrite rod 6 is located, a bias coil 8 being wound around the dielectric material and the rod 6. In another arrangement in accordance with the invention (not shown) a polyrod waveguide feed is also included in the component, being integrated with the circular depolariser and the linear polariser.

    摘要: A dual frequency feed assembly (10) for antenna systems employing a pair of rotatably mounted probes (20, 33) each in respective coaxial cavities. The smaller cavity is supported by the rotating means for the larger probe (33) and the smaller probe (20) rotates with the larger probe driven by a common motor (36). The higher frequency signal is taken from the side wall of the lower frequency cavity. In an alternate embodiment, the smaller cavity is supported by a spider which rotates the smaller probe by means of external gearing and a separate motor. Other embodiments show coaxial lines which enter from the front face of the assembly and allow rotation of the smaller probe.

    摘要: A system for selectively converting electromagnetic waves from circular to linear polarization or vice versa is pro­vided. The system comprises a polarization converter inclu­ding a circular waveguide (22) and a rectangular waveguide (23) for receiving or transmitting a signal. The center line (23-1) of the rectangular waveguide (23) is at substantially a right angle to the axis (22-1) of the circular waveguide (22). The unit (26) is provided comprising a metal fin (26-1) and a shorting member (27) positioned in the circular wave­guide (22) at the opening of the rectangular waveguide into the circular waveguide. The fin (26-1) is at a preset distance from the shorting member (27). The fin (26-1) is movable with respect to the center line (23-1) of the rectangular waveguide (23) about the axis (22-1) of the circular waveguide (22-1) with the face thereof substantially at right angles to the axis (22-1). The fin (26-1) has a front edge positioned between the rectangular waveguide center line (23-1) and the wall (23-5) of the rectangular waveguide (23) farthest from the circular waveguide opening. Means for providing circularly polarized microwave signals to the circular waveguide are provided.

    摘要: The specification relates to polarisers for dual-band antennas and systems comprising such antennas. According to an aspect, this specification describes an apparatus comprising: a first part comprising first and second propagation paths configured to selectively propagate signals of a first frequency with either a first polarisation state or a second polarisation state, the first part being rotatable between a first feed position in which the first propagation path is disposed within a first signal path and a second feed position in which the second propagation path is disposed within the first signal path, and wherein the first part is configured to allow propagation of signals in a second signal path in either the first or second feed positions. The apparatus further comprises a transition part rotatable between first and second transition positions, wherein the transition part is configured to selectively propagate signals of the second frequency along the second signal path with the first polarisation state when in the first transition position and with the second polarisation state when in the second transition position, wherein the transition part is configured to allow propagation of signals in the first signal path in either the first or second transition positions. The apparatus further comprises a rotator part rotatable between first and second rotator positions, the rotator part being configured to orientate the polarisation of signals in the second signal path in order to couple the second signal path to an interface, wherein the rotator part is configured to allow propagation of signals in the first signal path in either the first or second rotator positions.
