The electrical discharge machine comprises a tool (17) intended to machine a workpiece (15) positioned in a work tank (12) containing a machining fluid (16). A regulating device (29) for regulating the level of machining fluid in the work tank is mounted in an outlet pipe (26) connecting the work tank to a reservoir (24). It comprises a deformable element (31), such as an inflatable balloon, connected to a source of pressurized fluid. The dimensions of this deformable element (31) are controlled by a control unit (33) acting on the pressurized fluid. By virtue of the invention there is obtained reliable control over the level of machining fluid, insensitivity to soiling, and high flexibility of installation.

The invention relates to a method and generator for generating a time sequence of EDM pulses having a predefined ignition voltage for electrical discharge machining. An AC voltage is generated from a DC voltage, furnished by a bipolar current source (8-17). The AC voltage is applied to an isolating transformer (27) disposed between the bipolar current source (8-17) and the spark gap (EL, WS). A first pulse capacitor (47, 48, 61, 62) is charged by the bipolar current source (8-17) to a voltage corresponding to the ignition voltage. The ignition voltage provided by the isolating transformer (27) is switched with a selected polarity to the spark gap (EL, WS).

The invention relates to a method and a generator for generating a time sequence of discharge pulses for EDM machining wherein a pulse capacitor (22) for generating the discharge pulse is charged with a charging voltage (U_chrg) and then discharged into the spark gap. The pulse capacitor (22) after being discharged is recharged with a charging voltage (Uchrg) having the same polarity as that of the residual voltage (U_end) remaining at the pulse capacitor (22) after its discharge. Thereafter, the pulse capacitor (22) is discharged with a discharge pulse into the spark gap, wherein the polarity of the discharge pulse is independent of the polarity of the charging voltage (U_chrg) at the pulse capacitor (22) after its recharge.

Le dispositif de coupe (30) pour machines à électroérosion par fil comprend une roue de fraise (58) dont les dents (59) coopèrent avec une pièce contre-couteau (60) comportant un alésage axial (61) à travers lequel le fil (20) est avancé vers la roue de fraise pour être coupé par cisaillement entre le bord de l'alésage (61) et les dents (59). La pièce contre-couteau (60) présente une forme cylindrique avec une importante échancrure (65) sur sa face cylindrique permettant de diminuer considérablement la surface de frottement de la pièce contre-couteau avec son support (71) et d'obtenir ainsi une mise en rotation facilitée de cette pièce contre-couteau (60) par la roue de fraise (58) qui présente à cet effet un agencement décalé par rapport à l'alésage (61) et des dentures obliques sur ces dents (59). Grâce à ces caractéristiques, la pièce contre-couteau possède une longévité beaucoup plus grande, tout en assurant une coupe précise.
