The invention concerns a method of producing a cellulose product by the amine oxide process, a suspension of cellulose in an aqueous tertiary-amine oxide being converted into a cellulose solution and the cellulose solution shaped and passed through an aqueous regenerating bath, thus giving a product which, following optional washing, is treated with a cross-linking agent. The method is characterized in that the cellulose solution which is shaped contains a substance which activates the cross-linking agent. The method proposed enables fibres to be produced with accurately controllable fibrillation characteristics.

A solution of cellulose in a tertiary amine oxide is extruded through a shaping device, for example a spinning nozzle, and the extruded shaped body is drawn as it is led into a aqueous regenerating bath, in which it coagulates. The coagulated shaped body is then washed with an aqueous washing liquid. The invention concerns a process for manufacturing cellulose moulded bodies in which a suspension of cellulose in an aqueous solution of a tertiary amine oxide is converted to a mouldable solution which is extruded using a shaping tool and introduced into a regeneration bath. The process is characterised by the fact that at least a portion of the materials in the apparatus and pipes used for transporting and processing the solution and in contact with the mouldable solution contains at least one element from the group titanium, zirconium, chromium and nickel in elemental form or in the form of compounds, to a depth of at least 0.5 νm, preferably more than 1.0 νm, and in a proportion of at least 90 %; the rest of the composition must not contain any of the elements copper, molybdenum, tungsten or cobalt. By using specific elements and compounds in this way, it is possible to prevent or limit exothermic decomposition reactions in the cellulose solution.

Proposed is a method of purifying aqueous solutions of amine oxides, the method being characterized in that the solutions are contacted, through an anion-active membrane, with an aqueous solution of an alkali-metal hydroxide and/or ion-pair reagent. The method proposed enables in particular anions of low-molecular-weight carboxyilc acids, as well as inorganic acids, to be removed efficiently.
