Provided is an aqueous ink composition for a writing instrument which is inhibited in time-dependent heterogeneity (difference in viscosity between up- and down-sides) in viscosity distribution in an aqueous ink composition containing an oxidized cellulose and which is excellent in time-dependent viscosity distribution stability. The above aqueous ink composition for a writing instrument includes, for example, an aqueous rink composition containing at least 0.05 to 1.5% by mass of an oxidized cellulose and 0.001 to 30% by mass of sugars having a weight average molecular weight of 5000 or less.

Provided is a ballpoint pen having a simple structure and which is capable of writing lines having different widths, using one writing tip and without using any particular operation during writing. Also provided is a ballpoint pen capable of writing lines having different widths, with a single writing ball by using two writing portions. An outer member (50) covering the outer circumference of a holder (21) covers a section that reaches as far as a narrowed section (23) of the holder (21) and has an outer member tip end portion (51) capable of coming in contact with a writing surface at the same time that the writing ball (30) does. An ink is used that is capable of spreading between the writing ball (30) and the contact section of the writing surface and between the outer member tip end portion (51) and the contact section of the writing surface, in a state in which the writing ball (30) and the outer member tip end portion (51) are in contact with the writing surface at the same time. In addition, the relative position of the outer member (50) and the holder (21) can be changed to a holder retracted position and a holder protruding position. When the relative position is in the holder retracted position, the writing ball (30) and the tip section of the outer member (50) can be in contact with the writing surface at the same time.

Provided is a mechanical pencil which is configured so that a rotatable cam is rotationally driven with an axis of the rotatable cam relative to a holder member stabled, and smooth operation of a rotational drive mechanism is ensured. The mechanical pencil includes a rotational drive mechanism 21 for driving rotationally a rotatable cam 23 according to writing pressure applied to a writing lead, and transfer rotational motion of the rotatable cam 23 to the writing lead. The rotational drive mechanism 21 includes a holder member 22 supporting the rotatable cam 23 so as to be rotatable, a first fixed cam 22c formed with a funnel-shaped inclined surface Fu and a second fixed cam 22d formed at an obtuse angle α relative to an axial direction. Cam faces of an upper cam 23a and a lower cam 23b alternately meshing with the first and second fixed cams are formed along a conical inclined surface Cs.

To detect a position on a screen with which even a thin nib is in contact, and improve operativity, visibility at the time of operation, and a feeling of use. A touch screen film 5 includes at least a transparent, conductive, thin film 7 which has a predetermined surface resistivity set to be within a range from 10 5.0 to 10 8.0 Ω/sq; when a pointing means 30 comes into contact with the film, a change in capacitance per unit area of 0.36 to 6.00 pF/mm 2 occurs in a dielectric material 4 between a predetermined area including the contact position and the sensor electrode.

Provided is an optical connector which is capable of positioning a collimator lens and an optical fiber with high accuracy without any complicated assembly steps. The optical connector (10) has: a holding member (11) configured to have an accommodating portion formed at an end thereof for accommodating a collimator lens (12) and have an insertion hole formed at an opposite end thereof for inserting an optical fiber (13); and a resin joint (14) configured to have a first insertion hole formed at an end thereof for inserting the holding member (11) and have a second insertion hole formed at an opposite end thereof for inserting the optical fiber (13). The collimator lens (12) and the optical fiber (13) are positioned by making at least one of the collimator lens (12) and an end surface of the optical fiber (13) abut against a recess formed in the holding member (11) near the accommodating portion. The resin joint (14) has a fixing portion formed therein for fixing a part of the optical fiber (13) positioned in the holding member (11) inserted via the first insertion hole into the resin joint, the part being exposed from the holding member (11).

A mechanical pencil is provided having a rotational drive mechanism which gradually rotates a writing lead on application of writing pressure and allowing rotational operation of the writing lead to be known reliably. First and second cam faces 6a and 6b are respectively formed at one end face and the other end face of a rotor 6 in an axial direction, and first and second fixed cam faces 13a and 14a arranged on the body cylinder side so as to respectively face the first and the second cam faces are provided to form the rotational drive mechanism for the writing lead. A plurality of grooves 8a in the axial direction are formed at a slider 8 of a pipe end 7 which projects forwardly from a body cylinder 1. Therefore, it is possible to directly see the grooves 8a (provided for the slider 8) rotated by rotation of the rotor 6 in conjunction with the writing operation and clearly know that the writing lead is rotationally driven.
