L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de corps moulés poreux ayant une structure de pores donnée, par façonnage d'une matière pouvant subir une déformation plastique, puis être durcie. Ledit procédé est caractérisé en ce qu'on constitue le corps moulé par couches, par une séquence répétée des étapes suivantes: réalisation, à partir de la matière, d'une couche texturée à l'image de l'os naturel, et conforme au système de pores; durcissement de la couche, les structures des différentes couches étant reproduites fidèlement d'après les modèles osseux correspondants. Ce procédé peut être utilisé de préférence pour fabriquer des corps moulés ayant un système de pores s'interconnectant en trois dimensions et notamment pour fabriquer des implants moulés ayant le système de pores des os naturels.

A method for making closures resembling natural cork for selaing liquid product containers is described. A strand of expandable plastic material is injected into each mold cavity and is permitted to collect in that cavity in randomly oriented groups of coils which expand to fill the cavity and coalesce to create randomly oriented grain lines on the surface of the closure resembling the appearance of natural cork. Also described are methods of molding the closures which preclude the formation of leakage channels on the closure surface and preferred blends of plastic resins and pigment particles used to achieve the cork-like appearance.

Microporous polymeric films having good water vapor transmission rates and hydrostatic resistance to the penetration of liquid water are obtained by stretching a composition consisting of a matrix of a thermoplastic orientable polymer having a hydrophobic surface, a glass transition temperature of less than 25°C, a Vicat softening point of more than about 25°C, an aultimate elongation between those two temperatures of at least 100%, and a flexural modulus of less than 200 MPa and a particulate filler having an aspect ratio of less than 3, an average diameter of 0.05-50 µm, a negligible attraction to the matrix polymer, and a surface tension no higher than that of the matrix polymer at the latter's melting temperature. Such films are useful in applications involving separation of liquids and vapors, e.g., in making "breathing" waterproof garments or linings.
