    摘要: An inner ring (6) is configured to simultaneously ensure the strength thereof and the dimensional accuracy of a female spline portion of a shaft hole (22) thereof in the case where the female spline portion (23) is subjected to heat treatment. Also it is configured to suppress the backlash of spline fit with a shaft (12). The inner ring (6) is mounted in a constant velocity universal joint for transmitting torque while the inner ring (6) is allowed to be angularly displaced relative to an outer ring (3) and is spline-fitted to a shaft (12) inserted into a shaft hole (22) formed through the inner ring (6). The inner ring (6) has a hardened layer by means of heat treatment which is formed only in an axial central portion (29) of the shaft hole (22), but is not formed in remaining inner diameter surface other than the axial central portion (29).

    摘要: A retaining ring and method of installation are provided to maintain the relative position of an inner joint to an outer joint in a constant velocity joint. The outer joint (14) has an open end, a generally spherical internal surface with a plurality of ball grooves (30), and an annular groove (20) formed in the internal surface near the open end of the outer joint (14). An annular ring (18) with a radially extending tab (22) is aligned within one of the ball grooves (30) to axially align the tab (22) with the annular groove (20). The annular ring (18) is then rotatable within the annular groove to align the tab (22) between two of the ball grooves (30). The annular ring (18) is rotationally retained within the annular groove (20).
