摘要： A biometric authentication device including: a biometric information acquiring unit which generates a biometric input image representing user's biometric input information; a storage unit which stores, for each of a plurality of registered users which have been preregistered, a first group feature for each of a plurality of groups set for a registered biometric image representing registered biometric information; and a processing unit. The processing unit: extracts, for each of blocks obtained by dividing the biometric input image, a local feature representing the geometric feature of the biometric input information contained in the block; classifies the plurality of blocks into a plurality of groups by blocks with a similar local feature; extracts a second group feature representing feature of biometric input information for each of the plurality of groups; calculates the degree of difference between each of the plurality of registered biometric information and the biometric input information based on the first group feature and the second group feature; selects a prescribed number of registered biometric information in ascending order of the degree of the difference; and matches the selected registered biometric information with the biometric input information.

The method includes the steps of: first enrolling a person by the steps of forming a reference image of a fingerprint of the person, identifying a plurality of reference sections within the reference image, where the image data contained in each of the reference sections is distinct relative to the image data adjacent to and surrounding the reference section, and saving the image data of each of the reference sections; and then verifying the identity of someone claiming to be an enrolled person by the steps of retrieving the image data of the reference sections of the enrolled person, forming a verify image of the fingerprint of the person claiming to be enrolled, where the verify image includes a plurality of verify regions each corresponding in position to one of the reference sections and each larger in extent than its corresponding reference section, determining a best-match location within each verify region at which the image data is most similar to the image data of its corresponding reference section, and verifying the identity of the person claiming to be enrolled according to the degree of similarity between the image data of the best-match locations and the corresponding reference sections and according to the degree of similarity between the relative positioning of the best-match locations and the corresponding reference sections.

摘要： A method for fingerprint unlocking is provided. The matching success rate between the two can be improved, and thus, the efficiency of fingerprint unlocking can be improved.
