A method and system for creating three-dimensional models of implant-bearing dental arches, and other anatomical fields of view, employs three-dimensional scanning means to capture images of an anatomical field of view wherein there have been positioned (and preferably affixed to an anatomical feature) one or more three-dimensional recognition objects having a known geometry, such as a pyramid or a linked grouping of spheres. Image processing software is employed to locate and orient said recognition objects as reference data for stitching multiple images and thereby reconstructing the scanned field of view. Recognition objects placed in areas of low feature definition enhance the accuracy of three-dimensional modeling of such areas.

The present invention relates to navigating an interventional device. In particular, the invention relates to a system for navigating an interventional device within a tubular structure of an object, a method for navigating an interventional device within a tubular structure of an object as well as a computer program element and a computer-readable medium. In order to provide enhanced information to the user in an easily comprehensible manner while keeping the X-ray dose to a minimum, a system and a method for navigating an interventional device within a tubular structure of an object are provided, wherein the method comprised the following steps: a) Acquiring 2D X-ray fluoroscopy image data in one projection geometry of a region of interest of the tubular structure; b) detecting the interventional device in the 2D X-ray image; c) determining the 2D position of the interventional device in the 2D X-ray image; d) registering the at least one 2D X-ray image with a previously acquired 3D dataset of the region of interest of the tubular structure; e) mapping the determined 2D position of the interventional device to a position in the 3D dataset; f) extracting local 3D parameters of the tubular structure at the position of the interventional device; g) generating navigational information on behalf of the determined 3D position of the interventional device and the extracted local 3D parameters; and h) providing the navigational information to the user.

A digital slide or other large two-dimensional image is acquired and each separate resolution level of the digital slide or large image is divided into a series of regions that are each identified as a DICOM image. All of the regions at the same resolution in the digital slide or other large image are collectively identified as a DICOM series. A plurality of DICOM series, representing multiple resolution levels in a digital slide are collectively identified and stored as a DICOM study.

Systems and methods for aligning objects in object sets are provided. An object set has objects that are in a corresponding image in a plurality of images. For each respective object in a first object set, a corresponding object group is constructed that contains the respective object, thereby constructing a plurality of object groups. Similarity metrics are computed between object groups and objects in objects sets in order to assign the objects to object groups. The object groups are then refined in order to align objects in the object sets.
