    摘要： A duplex printing system and a printing method which enables printing of the second side of substrate in any desired order is provided. The printing system includes a printing unit, a reader and a processing unit. In the first pass, the printing unit receives a digital representation of a first image and at least one machine readable code and prints the first image and the machine readable code on a first side of a printing substrate. In the second pass, the reader identifies the printed machine readable code, preferably a bar-code, and provides it to the processing unit. The processing unit provides the digital representation of a second image associated with the machine readable code to the printing unit for printing a second image on a second side of the printing substrate, preferably, but not necessarily, in an orientation which is generally similar to the orientation of the printed first image and in registration therebetween.

    摘要： A copying machine is disclosed which is capable of copying an original document having a page number by preliminarily erasing or correcting the page number portion of the image and by changing the order of the outputt image according to its page number or by changing the path for delivering the sheet of paper to be copied. A document page image read-in by a charge coupled device sensor (22) is converted into digital signals which are corrected for shading and then binarized and stored in an image memory (34). This image data is transferred to a working memory (36) wherein the page number shown on the document is read by a page number recognizing unit (37). The control unit (38) checks the page number and prepares a binding margin on a suitable portion of the document's image. On the basis of the recognition the page number on the document's image, it also decides to copy the document on one side of the sheet of paper and to deliver it out or to copy the next document on the other side of the sheet of paper.

    摘要： In accordance with the present invention, an improved printing machine for concurrently processing first and second sets of image data is provided. The printing machine preferably comprises a video processor (16), capable of processing the first set of image data, a system memory, adapted to store the second set of image data, and a bus for transmitting image data, addresses and control data thereacross. Both of the video processor and the system memory are coupled with the bus. Additionally, an apparatus (300) for transferring the second set of image data between the input and output devices (12,14) and the system memory substantially concurrent with the first set of image data being processed in the video processor is provided. The transferring apparatus preferably transfers the second set of image data in response to receiving a signal from the input/output device.
