There is described an apparatus and method for transporting contact lenses through dipping baths (2, 3, 4) for e.g. rinsing, extraction, coating or loading purposes. The lenses are individually accommodated in respective containers (5) which are capable of enabling a flow of treatment fluid (S) into and out of the container (5). During their automatic transport through the dipping baths (2, 3, 4) the containers (5) are held in carriers (6). Lifters (9) are provided for automatically lowering and raising the carriers (6) in a reciprocating manner along their travel through the dipping bath (2, 3, 4). The reciprocating lowering and raising of the containers (5) is accomplished such, that a portion of each container which accommodates a contact lens remains immersed in the treatment fluid (S) which is contained in the dipping bath (2, 3, 4) while the container (5) suspended from the carrier (6) is advanced through the dipping bath (2, 3, 4) from a starting end to a leaving end thereof.

There is described an installation (1) for dip coating articles (3), in particular vehicle bodies, which are movable up to and away from at least one dip tank (2) with the aid of a transport system (4). In order to be dipped and removed, they are moved onto a rotary platform (16) of at least one stationary rotary station (5, 6) and are dipped into and removed from the treatment liquid by rotation of the rotary platform (16). Each article (3) is fastened with the aid of a fastening device (11) to a skid (7) which interacts with the transport system (4). The fastening device (11) has a holding structure (12) for the article (3) and at least two rockers (13) which are U- or V-shaped and are fastened in a pivotable manner to the holding structure (12) at their vertex. The two arms of the U or V have a slot (15) into which in each case one guide pin (16, 17) fastened to the skid (7) engages and slides in the corresponding slot (15) upon rotation of the skid (7). In this way, the article (3) is at a shorter distance from the rotary platform (16) in the removed position than in the dipped position.

The invention relates to a system for treating objects, wherein said objects are transported by means of at least one transport carriage (5) and immersed into at least one treatment container, in which a treatment medium can be applied to the objects. The transport carriage (5) comprises at least one swivel arm (50, 51) connected to the chassis in an articulated manner, on which swivel arm the object can be fastened. A hydraulically operating piston-cylinder unit (80) having a first working chamber (80a) is provided to drive the swivel arm (50, 51) and at the same time to provide weight balancing. The first working chamber is made smaller during the downward motion of the swivel arm (50, 51) and is connected in a closed system to a first pressure accumulator (84). The second working chamber (80b) of the piston-cylinder unit (80), which is made larger during the downward motion of the swivel arm (50, 51), is connected to a source (83, 85) for pressurized hydraulic fluid and can be drained during the downward motion of the swivel arm (50, 51). The pressure of the hydraulic fluid in the first pressure accumulator (84) is sufficient to swivel the swivel arm (50, 51) together with the object upward if the pressure in the second working chamber (80b) of the piston-cylinder unit (80) is sufficiently low.
